After dining at the restaurant several times, I felt enticed to stay for a romantic weekend. Although I had never seen the cabins, I reviewed the website and was impressed with the photos and descriptions of the luxury accommodations. When we arrived we were surprised that the cabin was less than luxurious. In fact, the furnishings appeared worn and were... more

The lodge and cabins are on really nice property. Very comfortable to stay there. People are nice. Felt I got a good value. I like staying at higher end places and this fit my expectations. more

I found Savage River Lodge after googling Savage River ...my husband grew up in the area and remembers when the Savage River Dam was being built so I booked the Savage River Lodge and were we delighted.. Upon arrival we saw four deer grazing at the private residence then on another day we saw 2 more deer near our cabin... more

Needing a well deserved break from a crazy, busy summer and hot, humid weather just outside of DC, we packed up the kid, the dog and some casual clothes and headed up to Savage River Lodge. This is the THE PLACE to go to relax, slow down and enjoy. The cabins were supremely comfortable and cozy. Ceiling fans were more... more

We just returned from a stay at Savage River Lodge and it was a study of contrasts. 1. The Lodge staff was charming, well trained and eager to please. The owner was a complete jerk. He could use some training. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner after he yelled down us from a top balcony and told us... more

We stayed at Savage River Lodge this month and were pleasantly surprised. Our son wanted to try fly-fishing and I wanted to take the dog with us. SRL met these requirements. It was very quiet there. Dinners were excellent, not cheap, but worth the money. In fact, although there were other restaurants in the area we could have gone to,... more

We eat at Savage River Lodge a few times a year when we are in Garrett County for weekends. The food is good and they usually have an interesting menu. Our principal complaint is that the restaurant is too family-friendly. SRL sells their dinners as "romantic and serene" however there are always misbehaved children or families with babies. I would... more

The lodge itself is absolutley spectacular. Very beautifully constructed and kept. The cabins are the same. The decor is simple yet very inviting and relaxing. Extremely clean too! Amazed that this place existed way back in the mountains, very remote which adds to the luster of the experience. At first my husband was not sure about the no tv, no... more

Have been here for dinner a number of times. The food is expensive and good. However each time we have had issues with atmosphere. The restaurant has no problem sitting families for dinner, especially near couples dining. Frankly, this isn't a restaurant for families. more

Stayed at Savage river lodge for one night. Wished we had stayed much longer! We travelled there during September and pretty much had the place to ourselves. Accomodation consists of simple, rustic styled loft style cabins nestled in amongst the forests. Absolutely tranquil & peaceful. Comfortable bed. Place would be magical during winter with plenty of cross country ski trails... more
