We stayed for six nights after Labor Day. The hotel seemed full. The staff are uniformly efficient and welcoming and the hotel is very well kept, considering particularly the amount of silverware, silver plate and polished wood. Our room occupied the top floor of one of the houses and had windows on all four sides. The room was very comfortable... more

We were there for 5 days and the hotel was very pleasant. The room I booked was a little small but I knew that before I booked it. It had a nice porch overlooking a flower garden and a private entrance. We ate one evening meal at the hotel and that was excellent. They made us dinner reservations for the... more

This place is lovely and elegant, with outstanding services and beautifully appointed rooms. Unique, antique-filled rooms, sumptious bedding, afternoon tea on tea on the verandah and breakfast in the garden. But I must admit it felt a formal for what I think of as a laid back island that's typcially informal and casual. One odd quirk is the strict "no... more

We stayed at this Inn over the 4th of July last year. We have a house on the Island but our house was rented. We had booked our stay because we wanted to see an oil painting demonstration by one of the artists carried by the Edgartown Art Gallery, which is owned by the Inn and is one of the... more

I stayed at the Inn several years ago and wouldn't go back. It is very beautiful and extremely well maintained....however~ you are made to feel as though you are trespassing in a museum. I personally do not find this relaxing. Of course, it is understandable that the owners would want to protect their "things" but they miss the whole point... more

My partner and I stayed at the charlotte inn during this memorial day weekend past. On arriving the lady behind the desk was wonderful and friendly. She had been there for over 35 years. Our many questions were answered with ease and clarity. However on entering our room we felt almost immediatley stifled. My gosh there was old furniture everywhere. I... more

my husband and I have had to deal with some nerve-jangling issues lately, and we were sorely in need of some soothing down-time this past weekend. as tends to be the case in times of stress, we could only "get away" for one night of vacation, so we decided to treat ourselves right and stay at the Charlotte Inn. once... more

My boyfriend and I arrived at the Charlotte Inn for the Memorial Day weekend. We were initially quite impressed with the remarkable decor and gardens. Our room was absolutely lovely, done up in period decor with nothing overlooked. After unpacking, I spoke with the conceirge, a middle-aged woman in glasses, and inquired as to whether there might be any historical... more

In response to the above review, when asked about any possible walking tours of the island I said that there was a "ghost and gossip" walking our of Edgartown, but that I was not aware of an historical walking tour besides the self guided tour available through the historical society. When the guests said that they would not be interested...

The place is wonderful, certainly one I return to often. It's peaceful, beautifully decorated, clean, and in a great location. The restaurant is terrific as is the attitude of the folks who work there. What some reviewers call "snooty" I've always thought mildly idiosyncratic and fun. Personally, I enjoy chatting with the owner/manager who serves coffee during breakfast followed by... more
