I have stayed in inns and bed and breakfasts around the U.S. and in Europe. I have NEVER been treated like we were at Canterbury Chateau in Brighton - in fact we ended up leaving. My wonderful boyfriend had made arrangements for an evening there for my 52nd birthday. Given that we are not familiar with the area, we dad to call on our way for directions. We ended up having to call three times -- each time we felt like we were in a cat and mouse game. The woman on the line was rude and condescending and gave us incomplete directions. We finally had to stop at a gas station. Once we found the place (beautiful home by the way), we were scolded for coming in the lit up back entrance instead of the front of the home. The person even took us outside again to show us the sign that pointed to the front of the house - we still cound't see it -- though there was a "Welcome" sign on the back door.
