We came up to see the beautiful Autumn colors and they didn't disappoint. The motel room was clean, quiet and the beds were very comfortable. We prefer to stay at small Mom and Pop places like this. We plan another trip next spring and will stay at Charleboyne Motel once again. We can stay here twice for the price of the other chain motels. The owner was friendly and helped us if we needed anything. Small business at its best.

In a very quiet location, this well kept up motel has very cozy, comfortable rooms. There is free wi-fi and satellite tv. The owners are incredibly friendly and attentive. I'll gladly stay at places like this over sterile chain hotels any day!

Charleboyne Motel and owners Joe and Nichola are awesome! Traveling on our Harleys in the rain, they let us check in at noon which was so appreciated. We ended up sitting there all day as the rain didn't stop. They even helped us order dinner from places that delivered there. The rooms were clean and very homey feeling and the beds were very comfortable. We will definitely come back!

Booked ahead of time for 3 nites- wish I hadn't- paint literally peeling off the walls in the bathroom, very few outlets and none useable in the bathroom (one on the light fixture too small to get anything like a hair dryer or shaver plugged into), the fixture to hang your clothes on is a joke as there is no room, everything overlaps, not enough hangers (though I did get more it didn't matter there were not enough hooks to hang eveything if your staying for more than one day). No room in bathroom for toiletries for a woman- a shelf above the sink would be a nice touch. Small bars of soap that were like hockey pucks. Coffee with processed lunchmeat and processed cheese slices certainly an interesting morning touch- in Europe at least its fresh cheese and meats. Entrances to motel have some divits that need filling to save on your vehicle. Owners pleasant enough but some detail to whats in the rooms for guests is needed

We booked the Charleboyne since we were in town for a wedding. The wedding party was stating at another hotel that was at last twice the cost. We were skeptical, but were very pleased when we checked in. The place is simple, but very clean and the proprietors were extremely friendly and accomodating. On Friday night we mentioned coming back from the wedding and having a campfire, and when we came back, they had a fire already for us- all we had to do was lifgt it. The breakfast room is small and cozy and has a great variety. Nikki makes the sweetbreads and they are fabulous. For an "up north" feel and great stay at a clean "mom and pop" this is the best. It's rare that when we leave a motel we hug the owners- but this time we did. Staying here next trip!

I had noticed the Charleboyne before, but it is a little out of the way so I had never looked into staying there. In June we had a medical emergency and the Charlevoix motels we usually use were full. I had to have a place which took dogs and the Charleboyne filled the bill. The rooms are small but clean and adequate. Spartan if you are used to the pseudo-luxury of the painted styrofoam chain motels, but fine for realists. Cold cuts on the breakfast buffet was unusual for North America, reminded me more of Amsterdam. A bit out of the way, especially if you are taking the early ferry to Beaver Island, but a bargain relative to much Charlevoix accomodation. WiFi included.

This is a small no frills great place! I felt like I was back traveling through Austria staying at small roadside motels. The breakfast served in the morning was a mixture of American and German styles from cereal to cold cuts . Our room was older but clean and if you sit outside your room at dusk you can watch the deer graze across the street . Best bargain around if you don't care about not being able to walk to town.

We went to Charlevoix for a mid-July weekend. At this time of year, in that popular resort town, accommodations in the center of town tend to be packed full well ahead of time as well as often being in the $200 - 300 per night range. But, fortunately, we found, just a mile or so out of town, this drive-up-to-your-room's-door motel owned by a very nice, helpful couple who live right there, so are on the spot for questions, repairs, help. Our room was a bit crowded with 2 beds and the usual pieces of motel furniture, a TV, but was very clean, with what seemed to be new bed linens, and very comfortable. The bathroom was small and old-fashioned, with a metal stall shower and a small sink, but everything worked. A big plus was the convenience of the included breakfast, bigger than continental with not only breads and muffins of many kinds, but various cold meats, lots of jams and spreads, and baked goods that varied from day to day, along with coffee, tea, juice. In fact, the lounge room was open till late at night to guests, with refrigerator, snacks, drinks. The motel sits on a fairly busy road, but the fan on air conditioning unit masked any sound. There are outdoor seating areas, lots of land behind it, and it's close to a nice Lake Charlevoix public beach. It seems to be a favorite of people participating in the many art and craft shows in Charlevoix in the summer, offering good, clean accommodation for $75 a night! That's a price almost unheard of in costly Charlevoix, so we were pleased and would stay there again.
