My husband and I find ourselves traveling to Escanaba regularly and Kipling House is always our first choice. Meghan and Robert Micheau are incredibly gracious and welcoming. Our needs are attended to with great care, and Meghan is an absolutely wonderful cook. The breakfasts are gourmet, and Meghan provides vegetarian options without blinking. She accommodates all dietary needs, which is... More

Learned of this place from TA and a few other web sources. The backyard cottage turned out to be a solid choice for our last night crossing the Upper Peninsula. The place was clean and ready (with ground coffee and cookies), had a parking spot off the (grass!) alley in back so we wouldn't have to park next to the... More

We had a wonderful weekday stay at the Kipling House on our way from Wayzata Minnesota to Mackinac Island. The Inn was a perfect spot to rest after a long drive. Its ideal for a family (and we were traveling with a 5 year old). Its a short walk to the shore and close to downtown Gladstone and 5 minutes... More

Upon our arrival, we were greeted to a plate of fresh, warm cookies (to die for!!!) and equally wonderful host, Meghan. My wife and I stayed in the cottage which was clean, cozy and inviting. Meghan provided helpful dinning suggestions (we arrived on Sunday and several places were closed). In the morning, she prepared an absolutely fabulous breakfast, one of... More

Megan is a wonderful host. She greated us warmly with a genuine smile and offered to help with our bags. We rented two rooms for one night and found both rooms to be clean and generous in size. In the evening milk, cherries, cookies, and chocolate torte were set out to enjoy on the large covered porch, pretty sunroom, or... More

We had a wonderful stay at the Kipling House with our children, ages 12, 18 and 22. We were able to book 2 rooms; one on the 2nd floor for my husband and I that had an attached bath with clawfoot tub and separate shower. Only thing a little quirky with the room was that the door that separated the... More

This B&B is great in its self: Meghan is a great host and spectaculair cook! The house is beautiful and very comfortable. But....The train at nights! We woke up both nights at 2am and 6 am, from te train that is very very close and very(like it was in the backyard). I should have known this before.

It can be a challenge to find a B & B with accommodation for a family of four, but we found this charming 19th-century home to be just what we were looking for. Don't get me wrong -- the place is not overrun with children -- there just happens to be a suite in the house that sleeps four that... More

Our last stop on our Upper Peninsula vacation was the Escanaba/Gladstone area. We chose the Kipling House as the place we wanted to stay to cap off our trip. Are we ever glad we did. The Micheaus are absolutely wonderful! Meghan went to culinary school and it certainly shows. She's the perfect hostess with a smile that lights up a... More

We stayed in late autumn and had the place to ourselves. We chose the suite with two bedrooms because we are both such light sleepers and we both slept well. Our hostess was having family over at the same time and she treated us to a surprise dessert in the evening in addition to a fine breakfast the next morning.... More
