We were on the island for the marathon and stayed at Mission Point for the first time. Check in was quick and easy and luggage arrived promptly. Our room was nice and tidy with normal amenities. Kudos to the hotel for the free kids meals at the restaurant and great friendly customer service from every employee we interacted with over the weekend. Special shout out to the bike reservation person who helped my son with his Halloween costume!

We had a great stay at Mission Point. Everything went smoothly, from the luggage service to check-in, to check-out. Excellent and friendly staff, very accommodating to a change in our reservation even though it was booked through a third party. The king room was as nice as one could expect in such a facility; we opened the window and let the "natural" air conditioning keep it cool. A very pleasant walk from town to the resort which we made both ways. Would love to make it back there for a longer stay sometime, maybe in the late spring or fall when (presumably) the island is a bit less crowded.

Stayed in the Straits Lodge two years ago and really enjoyed. This year, we brought family, expecting the same. A great job was done on the lobby remodel - but the rooms and much of the rest of the common areas in the Main Lodge are in need of refurbishment. Obviously, this is a nearly 70-year-old wooden structure that has endured many Michigan winters, but too many items were noted that took away from what should have been an enjoyable 2-night stay (doors out of alignment and not closed in hallway near Chianti, dirty door panels, rotted wood along door bottoms, tiny ancient elevator, noisy portable A/C in room). All of the staff, it should be noted, were great. No issues there. Using the lobby refurb as a focused advertising effort to promote the resort is allowed, providing that plans are in the works to bring the rest of the Main Lodge up to the advertised level of luxury; otherwise, not sure of another stay...especially for the cost.

We stay here almost every year when we visit the Island. The grounds are beautiful and the staff is top notch. They have the luggage to ferry routine down pat, no need to worry about a thing. We usually walk from town to the resort, which is about 3/4 of a mile from the East end of town. There is a shuttle that runs back and forth every hour but during busy times you may not get on as it only seats about 12 people. You can order a taxi but it is often a very long wait (no fault of Mission Point). Bicycles really are the best way to get around the island, just be sure not to get in the way of the horses! Mission Point did a remodel of the lobby and restaurant this spring and the changes are fabulous! The white and blue theme in the lobby is fresh and relaxing while still honoring the history of the building. The new sundries shop and lobby bar were great additions. The restaurant/bar remodel is fantastic. They removed the wall separating the two spaces and now it is open and bright. The new furniture is comfortable and covering the outside dining spaces was a smart move. I WOULD like to see a couple more table and chairs spaces somewhere in the lobby/hallways where people could play cards/games on a rainy day, even downstairs by the shops would be fine. We've been staying here since the 1990's and I would love to see a refresh of the rooms soon as well. I know the buildings are old and that is part of the charm but I feel like the furniture, tvs and carpeting could some updating. Please don't change the keys though...this is the only place I stay with real keys for the room and we love it! The pool was open this last weekend of September/first week of October which was great. So many places close them down after Labor Day, especially in Northern Michigan. The weather was warm though and so was the pool water so it was nice to see this area still open for people to enjoy. I'm already looking forward to our next stay.

My husband and I loved staying here! The lodge area is very comfortable for just sitting and relaxing with 5 fireplaces going 24/7. The folks working here are very friendly and helpful. Food was good as well in all the restaurants. They have their own dedicated horse and buggy that leaves every half hour to go into or come back from town. Its only a short 15 minute ride into town though. We had the smallest queen room they offer and even though it was tight in there, it was still comfortable and they had a portable air conditioner that kept the room very comfortable. We had massages at their Aveda Spa and it was excellent! Would not want to stay anywhere else if we are fortunate enough to come back.

Mission Point Resort is a 15 minute walk from town which normally is not a problem but I did not count on the rain. If not walking it's a 8$ per person each way shuttle ride. The grounds and lobby are really very nice. Our room (admittedly the least expensive) was not very nice. We had a decent lawn view, in a very small room with a queen size bed. The bathroom was tiny. The furnishings are older, the room in need of refurbishing. Not enough plugs and it has a musty smell. The hotel does a great job of transporting your luggage seamlessly from the ferry and the staff we encountered were very pleasant.

The resort has been renovated since my stay Memorial Day weekend 2021 and the improvements are noticeable elevating what I already deem a 5 star resort to a true luxury resort. The restaurants were fully staffed and operating at capacity and the service remains impeccable! We were greeted by Latoya and Vivyan who shared that are room, although not ready, as we arrived hours early, they would contact us via text when our family suite was available. They wished my daughter a happy 18th birthday and they had an electric greeting board for all special occasions to our surprise. The bell services team was on point and willing to take our bags and deliver to our room, Avian assisted us and the stellar professionalism continued when we returned later after receiving the text notification that our room was ready. The family suite at the Straits Lodge is a short walk from the main lodge where you pass the spa (amazing), wedding pavilion, game room, theater, and a hall that conducts Sunday morning services. The family suite has a shared bathroom but separate quarters for sleeping, a King room with a tv, coffee bar, closet, sink/mirror area to refresh, hair dryer, iron, and microwave and hidden refrigerator, etc., as well as a cozy sitting area. The bed was the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in in my life and I’ve stayed at numerous hotels and resorts throughout the world. At one point I did not want to leave the bed nor did my daughter in the twin bedroom area. The other area contains twin beds, sink/dressing area large enough for two, tv mounted above that area, and closet. She too commented that although she has a full size bed she’d gladly downsize to a twin mattress of from that manufacturer. The bathroom is standard with a toilet, tub/shower combo, and supplied with shower essentials. My only suggestion would be an additional sink in the bathroom versus leaving to wash my hands in the bedrooms. Also, there were no dressers or nightstands but there were areas to hang clothes in the closet. We enjoyed dinner at the Round Island restaurant with great vegetarian options. There is a great lawn with plenty of Adirondack chairs where ever lounged overlooking the lake. They also offered evening Glo-Golf. We closed out Labor Day weekend at the Lakeside Spa and it was phenomenal!!! Ryah helped with accommodations prior to our arrival and was able to reserve couple’s massage for my daughters first massage experience so she would not be alone. The quiet waiting area is tranquil filled with large lavish chaise lounge chairs and a hydration station. There are multiple saunas and you are supplied with lockers, robes, shoes, hair ties, and individually wrapped hair brushes, etc. the spa is divine with soothing music and lighting to relax your mind. Amy and another massage therapist came for us and the room was large, they wrapped warm towels around our feet, pampered us throughout the entire experience. We waited in the sauna until time for our mani pedis with Gail and Chloe. My daughter was paired with a younger tech, Chloe and they chatted like old friends and Gail and I laughed like we had known each other for years. I truly did not want to leave as we were cared for from the moment I called to make reservations and even after I left an item in the locker room they mailed it to my home address. I cannot rave enough about the accommodations and the grounds are beautifully cared for and 3 days is not enough to experience this resort. Note: They have bike rentals, baggage service from the ferry, small cafe at the Straits, lounges at the main building, pool, and more, all reasonably priced for this level of luxury. Enjoy!

We were very disappointed in the quality of our room at mission point resort. We had a double room-that is one room, but separated into two. One side had one king bed, and the other side had two small double beds. Both rooms shared a extremely small bathroom (tub and toilet only, each bedroom had a sink.). There were window air conditioners, and ceiling fans (that did not work). The double hung windows were in bad repair and actually slammed down and smashed my fingers the first day. The cabinetry in the room must have been from the 50s. The rooms definitely did not look like the pictures on the website. Just wanting to be honest so that other people are not surprised by the condition of the hotel rooms. Definitely not worth $500 a night!

We enjoyed a 2 bedroom suite with 3 queen beds. The entry area has 1 bathroom accessible by both private bedroom’s window air conditioner helped with temp and airflow. This is a historic resort so do not expect Hilton beds but what you will experience is a beautiful timeless resort intended to give a relaxing break from the world The service by all the staff was at the highest level. This is coming from someone with 30+ years in customer service I love that the kids eat free from the bistro and the on site restaurant. Kids menu is very generous and with small refrig and microwave in the room we could heat up late night snacks. This resort has all the amenities. We also enjoyed the arcade. Pools and relax ton the front lawn. There is a lemonade stand for kids and adults. Very good. This year I must say the flowers were amazing. We stayed 2 nights just to give everyone the true island experience. Will be back!
