Picked the HIE due to Gold status in their Priority Club (and ignored the better reviewed hotels in Mackinaw City. Should have stuck with Tripadvisor's advice! Part of a group of 20. Our room faced the front of the bldg. and we were lulled to sleep, when we actually did get to sleep, by the drone of the expressway, loud people coming in at 2-3 am, and the downshifting of semi trucks getting onto the e-way. I stayed here three times, the last time was for 1 week. Unfortunately, the bed I slept in for 1 week was not comfortable. I left with a terrible backache, and was happy to leave there. My fiance and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express for a weekend getaway and we had a great time! The hotel is in walking distance to the downtown shopping and the Fort. All our expectations were met if not exceeded. The hotel was very clean and the staff was extremely friendly! I would definitely recommend this place! more

Key cards do not work on the outside doors. Room dirty, bathroom very dirty. Not enough towels in the bathroom....or toilet paper.....or coffee for the coffee maker, not that you would have wanted to use it anyways...very dirty and smelled like mold.
