Our stay at Gold Coast was an experiment of sorts. Our usual Traverse City hotels are far more expensive, and we were looking to economize. We had lower expectations based partly on the cheap price, as well as the somewhat distant location from downtown.
We were pleasantly surprised to find that our room was clean, comfortable, well appointed, and had spectacular views of the bay through generous sized windows. Sure, there were a few differences, the television was somewhat small, but was completely adequate. The bathroom was quite small and somewhat hard to maneuver in and out of due to the door and toilet placement. Also, the sink is located outside of the toilet area which was slightly awkward, and the bathroom exhaust fan was ineffective and had a strange timer switch that made it less user friendly also.
But these are minor annoyances, and I would still highly recommend this motel, if you don't mind carrying luggage up flights of stairs. We had no issue with this,and... more
