We recently returned from a great week at the White Iron Beach Resort in Ely MN. This is the classic Northern Minnesota family resort with big sandy beach, free paddleboats, canoes, fishing boats. We even rented a pontoon a few days and explored the incredibly beautiful White Iron Lake chain which seems to go on forever. The place has a great family feel with a fun lodge, sauna, volleyball, etc.

We stayed on the quiet end of the property in cabin #4 (it shows up as #18 on the resort map for some reason). Just make sure to ask for the two bedroom cabin perched in a private spot on a giant ledgerock. There are expansive views across thee lake from everywhere in the cabin. We especially enjoyed sipping our morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening out on the large screened in porch looking out over the lake. This is a special place! more
