We took an impromptu day trip to Faribault, about 50 miles south of our home in the Twin Cities, and were completely surprised by this hidden gem of a town. There was so much to see for a small town and, being born and raised in Minnesota, did not realize the rich history of the area.
We stayed at the Historic Hutchinson House Bed & Breakfast and could not have been more satisfied. Apparently, it has only been open since Spring, 2008 but it would seem it has been open much longer than that. The Victorian decor was surprisingly comfortable and warm. Our room, Johnson's Pride, was huge with an updated bathroom and a great view out the turret windows.
The 3-course breakfast was awesome and Tami & Doug (the owners) took great care of us. We only planned on staying one night but will definitely be back for a longer stay.
