My grandmother lives in small town northwestern MN, and recently moved to senior housing, so we needed to find a new place to stay when we come up to visit her. On our first visit up there since her move, my mom and I stayed at the Fosston Super 8, and found it to be basic but perfectly acceptable accommodations, with a few perks.
There is usually just one person on duty and they may not always be at the front desk, which I assume is typical of small towns. But the hotel is small, so it is easy to flag him/her down if you need assistance. The rooms are very plain and simple, as you would expect from a Super 8: dark red industrial carpeting, white walls, simple pull-curtains, sink area, and bathroom with shower/toilet. But they were clean and in great shape. I also noticed our room had a DVD player in it, which is unusual to find in hotels of this class, and you can check out DVDs from the front desk.
