We traveled with our 2 children (10 and 8) for a long weekend in February and were delighted by the simple joy of relaxing together. We were lucky to arrive after a large snowfall; the trees were beautiful and the trails perfect. As is usually the case with kids, the hot-tub and sauna were the main draw and both kids... More

I've been coming up here for about 4 years and love the wonderfully groomed trails, gorgeous north woods scenery, clean cabins, and most of all the jump in the lake after a sauna. Andy takes great care of his guests. This is a wonderful warm place for a comfortable yet rustic vacation.

Andy and the team at NFL make this a fabulous experience. Skiing through pine forests, relaxing in the dining hall/lodge and not having to worry about meals make this the perfect getaway from it all weekend. Your biggest worries are whether you'll take the polar plunge, which trail to take and what to bring along to drink. (The water is... More

We had a group of friends head up for a ski weekend and it could not have been better. Great location just off the National forest ski trails. Conditions were excellent, best cross country skiing this year!

This was our third annual trip to the National Forest Lodge, and already rebooked for next year. Our group continues to grow, and 10 couples made the trip this year. This place has the best cross country skiing in Minnesota. Accomodations are very comfortable - the food is good - and Andy and the staff very friendly and helpful. The... More

This lodge had everything I could want for a winter vacation. Peace and quiet. Access to the sky high pine forest. Great food. Wonderful laid back people. Outdoor hot tub. Skiing. And most importantly a euphoric polar plunge into a frozen lake. Wonderful.

This is our third year to NFL. Andy Rocks! August was a great addition. We had a blast and then some. The trails are stunning. Some of the best in the state. For sure ski from the lodge to the Lake Geogka Trail. Food is good, plenty of it and if you are a picky eater bring your own stuff... More

NFL is surrounded by great beauty, with lots of adventures to be had. Cabins are simple, which is fine because the community room is so cozy and fun to hang out in. Great food, activities, company, hosts, and amenities.
