Just returned from an overnight at Caribou Highlands where we stayed in the main lodge. The hotel feels very new and we found the room to be nicely furnished. The one main problem is that the heating unit does not cycle off when a certain temp is reached so we were up several times during the evening to adjust temp... more

We returned to Lutsen for the 5th time in 6 years. I don't think there is a more beautiful place in the upper midwest. Besides the natural beauty, there were also plenty of things to do for our 8 and 11 year olds--swimming, hiking, alpine slide, gondola ride, skipping stones.... We stayed at Caribou Highlands in a Poplar Ridge home--very... more

We had a wonderful time staying at Caribou Highlands. The staff was always friendly and accommodating. Our room was spacious, nicely appointed and the location was perfect (centrally located on the North Shore). We dined on property two times, both meals were excellent. more

My husband, our daughter and myself stayed at CH on 9/5/2009. We arrived at 12:30am on September 6th. Gina put our room key in the entry of the building as the office was closed. We went to our room to go to bed as we all were very tired from driving...the sheet were dirty on BOTH beds...lots of hair strands... more

My boyfriend and I wanted to spend a weekend on the North Shore and picked Caribou Highlands mostly based on the price. Most other comparable hotels in the area charge much higher rates for the holiday weekend. I read reviews after my reservation but before arriving, and figured that I'd have to see for myself what the place was like.... more

While the location and view is amazing...we've stayed here several years prior but the service contines to decline and the resort needs work. We asked for our room to be changed after opening the window upon our arrival (screens are still old and flimsy) and rather than the rustling leaves heard the load humming of an electrical box and meters... more

We checked in and were given the keys to our room. The directions to our room provided by the front desk resulted in us walking around the building for 15 minutes trying to figure out how to get to our room on the "GARDEN LEVEL". When we finally found our room, we opened the door only to find that the... more

Great central location for the North Shore and all the activities. The only down side was the pullout couch--ouch! Great staff and facilities. more

We stayed overnight in the main lodge on our way up to the Boundary Waters. I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. Our room was a standard hotel room but was very comfortable. We had our dog along and were able to walk him along the many trails and ski runs. We enjoyed hiking up to the top of... more

My husband and I went up to Lutsen for a romantic winter getaway, and we were satisfied with the beautiful location of Caribou Highlands Lodge, but disappointed with the service. As others have mentioned, they are remodeling (Dec. 2008) and I felt like the staff was preoccupied with that and that the customers were more a nuisance to them than... more
