I have stayed at the St. Paul nearly a half dozen times, and while it is doubtlessly the best hotel within miles, they have nothing to really compete against. I would venture to say that Des Moines or Omaha have a better range of lodgings than downtown St. Paul. Your next step down would likely be the Crowne Plaza around... more

My wife and I stayed at the St. Paul Hotel for a weekend while in town for a wedding. Our room rate was $159/night and we had a simply excellent stay. All employees with whom I came into contact were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was impeccably clean and the facilities were lovely. I consider this to be one... more

In previous reviews – notably of the Seelbach Hotel in Louisville, KY and the Westin Columbus in Columbus, Ohio - I’ve discussed both the charm and the drawbacks of historic hotels. I’m pleased to say The St. Paul Hotel in St. Paul, Minnesota has all of the positives and none of the negatives. And the hotel’s boast of excellent service... more

This hotel isn't perfect--I tend to hate single rooms and got one here. But the service is absolutely impeccable, in a proactive kind of way. Most remarkable was that when the chambermaid found two beers in water in the ice bucket, she replaced the water with fresh ice. I've never seen service that detailed. A couple of items were left... more

We love this type of hotel. Even for the mid-west, St. Paul is a wonderfully friendly city, and this hotel embodies that spirit. It is right in the middle of everything, surrounded by Charles Schultz "Peanuts" bronze statues (he was born in the city) and across from the amazing Landmark Center with its wood exhibit and just amazing Schubert Club... more

My husband and I went to the Saint Paul Hotel for our anniversary and my birthday. The hotel was aware that we had chosen their property to celebrate our special days. They did make sure that we got a room with a view of the park but, other than that, there was really no acknowledgement. A cheesy, preprinted card would... more

This is THE place to stay in St.Paul. It is an historic hotel, completely redone to become one of the boutique and great smaller hotels in the US. Doormen, elegance, fabulous rooms, be sure to book a park view room, close to everything downtown, yet quiet.....and has the St.Paul Grille, a lovely restaurant. We stay there at least 3-4 times... more

Stayed here for a wedding so got the benefit of a nicely discounted rate. Historic hotel is nearly 100 years old and has lots of charm. Lobby is gorgeous and rooms, although smallish, are charming, too. Comfortable bed and chair with ottoman. Oddly the lamps could not be reached from the bed to either turn on or off. An inconvenience... more

I was tempted to title this review "A Death in The Family," but I feared folks (and hotel management) might take it the wrong way without reading the text. Family funerals are never easy, but it is a testament to the quality of St. Paul's hotel staff that ours was as painless as possible. We got a call on a... more

While St. Paul in February may not be the best time to visit, I found the Saint Paul Hotel to be one of the warmest places I've ever stayed. The staff were incredibly useful, the room was large, the best comfortable, and all of the added touches (such as his and her robes hanging in the closet) were excellent. I... more
