We've just booked our fourth Christmas break trip to Castle Haven Cabins. There's room for a family, but for the cost of a couple. Payed just 125 a night, which included a two bedroom, full kitchen and living room, dining area, and WOOD fireplace. It's especially cheaper for extended Winter stays, as you can save a lot of money on eating in. You're literally 15-20 feet from the shoreline with unobstructed views through at least 4 windows and can hear the waves crashing all night if you crack a window. They give you more wood every day for the fireplace and we just pull out the bed from the couch in the living room and sleep right in front of the crackling fire. Has a tv with vcr (we just bring our laptop for dvds). It's right next to Gooseberry and you can rent skis down the road. Split Rock and Tettegouche are also very close. Restaurants you must go to: Northern Lights (just south of Beaver Bay) and Rustic Inn (by Castle Danger). more
