Upon walking into the lobby, I was impressed with the decor and thought this might be a nice place to stay. Once we reached our room in the tower, it smelled of wet dog. I figured it was because the a/c had not been turned on. We turned on the a/c and then left the room only to return to... more

The Edison Walthall is an old hotel with a beautiful lobby. Dark wood paneling and reproduction furniture appropriate for the time period add a dimension of elegance not found in modern hotels. We were quite impressed with the lobby, dining area, and bar/lounge. Now for the problems. I had trouble reconciling all of the reviews that I had read because... more

Someone else made the reservation for me at this hotel and I had to stay there. When I read the reviews I was really worried. The place was fine. It is not a 5 star resort but a downtown hotel. The lobby was very nice. I ate at the restaurant and the food was fine. (I only had a salad.)... more

I had a wonderful time staying at this hotel. The airport shuttle was on time to pick me up, and the driver was really nice. I'm glad, as I was tired and worn out from a layover in Atlanta which kept on going, and going, and going. The workers were all very friendly, my room was very clean, although the... more

We went to Jackson on October 14,2006 for college football game. We booked it in advance but forgot to look here for comments. We were so puzzled prior to booking as to why this was the only hotel available in Jackson this particular weekend. When we arrived the parking garage was big enough to fit golf carts and motor cycles.... more

I was scheduled to stay at this hotel for a government training class and upon arriving the room smelled musty. It had cigarette burns on the carpet, the A/c was not on and the room was hot. They had bell service but no one came to assist me even though I asked for assistance as I am a small female... more

We booked this hotel because we were taking the bar exam across the street and heard it was nice. OH MY LORD.....it was the nastiest place I have ever been in- I didn't even stay the night- my things never left the dolly. The carpets look like someone DIED on them, the bedding had holes, stains, etc., the wallpaper was... more

Stayed at the hotel for 1 night. Staff very attentive and helpful. Had a room overlooking the pool. It was a large room and very nice. Used the pool but either debris had gone into it after it had been cleaned, or it hadn't been cleaned. It was late in the day when it was used. Gym was OK. Rate... more

I'm surprised at negative reviews...I travel 40 States and the E-W was comfortable. Yes it is an older hotel, but I'd rate the actual customer service as "excellent." As an onsite meeting manager I can attest...this staff's attitude and guest relations is excellent and (personally) the pillows are down and the shower will wonderfully drown you...I didn't realize I was... more

My husband and I routinely stay at the Walthall and are always satisfied. Admittedly, this place is not new, but it is extremely comfortable, has a great pool, nice fitness room, great bar and restaurant and a staff that will bend over backwards for you. It also has something that is really hard to come by these days: a feel... more
