Based on the previous review, I decided to stay at the Classis Route 66 Wagon Wheel Motel when I headed home for a high school reunion. Perhaps due to renovation plans, but instead of the classic stone rooms I got stuck in a cinder-block building with four tiny rooms. The smell of smoke first hits you when you enter (I guess I've gotten spoiled by No-Smoking hotels), then the nothingness of the room. The filthy carpet and stained cloth-covered chair was very concerning. There was running water (hot even), that I couldn't shut it off entirely, and it was heated and air conditioned. Cable television (color even) was a plus I didn't expect--perhaps the expense would be best used on some cleaning supplies. The $21 cost sounds cheap, but for under $50, I couldn't have stayed in a chain motel with much less concern. Perhaps after the planned renovations by the new owners, this place will be worth a visit . . . but never again by ME! more
