We spent two nights in March staying at this B&B. Very beautiful surroundings, lovely rural location. Accommodation is very peaceful, sounds of nature to lull you to sleep (frogs!) and amazing bird song by day. Delicious breakfast every morning, fresh orange juice, homemade jams etc and very welcoming Portuguese housekeeper. The owner gave us some excellent tips for restaurants and... More

Not too far from Monsaraz, the village, it is a secret place to relax staying in this unknown area from Portugal...not even for spainish people. It is perfect if you take a great book, your bike and family. Breakfast was delicious, home-made bread, marmalades and cakes.

Though we were the only people staying here, we had a lovely time and would love to return when it is a little warmer to relax at the pool! Lovely staff and Marc is a wealth of knowledge and so well travelled!

Monte Saraz is certainly the best place we stayed in during our round trip of Portugal! Nice and cosy for our autumn stay, it's a place to rest and laugh whether you want to be alone, or with the lovely owner Marc. It's one of THE places we treasure in our memory. Fantastic places to eat just nearby in Monsaraz... More

The renovated farm house and little villas are beautiful and serene, and our casa du forno was sweet and beautiful as well. The delicious breakfast always included warm bread and fresh delights, and we even got to enjoy some sweet figs straight from the surrounding trees, which made are toddler most happy, The swimming pool just by the central house... Monte Saraz is a pristine old-world villa nestled among olive groves, grape vines, and citrus trees. A surreal view of the clifftop medieval village of Monsaraz perfects the setting. The grounds are breathtaking and the home has been updated with modern amenities. It is truly a beautiful place to spend a holiday.

Marc’s lovely boutique hotel is a little bit of paradise. It is a stunningly renovated farming estate that couldn’t be more enchanting. The tastefully decorated interior of the apartments together with the amazing surrounding offers a romantic and relaxing atmosphere. Set in the beautiful landscape of Alentejo the charming buildings that form the estate are surrounded by orange trees that... More

Monte Saraz is a real jewel below the beautiful town of Monsaraz. The estate is tranquil with a large area sculpted into small gardens, ponds and features - perfect for relaxation. There is also lots to do in the area, from boating through bike riding and hiking. The wildlife (especially birdlife) is diverse and the megalithic remains fascinating. Rosetta, who... More

A well kept secret, a hidden gem, a sanctuary and a blessing to the stressed out city dweller - Monte Saraz is everything a weekend break should be. Fragrance of jasmine, palms and orange groves, private and romantic but also shared and open; medieval villages, excellent restaurants, neolithic monuments and horseriding all close to hand. Enjoy it while you can.

Monte Saraz is what in my mind a roman villa should look like back in the roman times, but with all the modern conveniences, especially underfloor heating. It may not sound like a big deal to have good heating, but if you plan to visit Alentejo in winter you will appreciate it. The Monte makes the perfect base for exploring... More
