Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Tronco Bay Inn was a great place to stay for easy access of beaches, great happy hour, friendly staff and good food. The rooms were comfortable, not top notch but I honestly do not care as long as they are clean and safe, which they were!! Would stay here again.

I am so very glad we chose to stay at the Tronco Bay Inn! It was located on such a gorgeous beach in one of the most beautiful bays we’ve ever seen! There were turtle nests laid almost every night we were there and our family got to help the conservationists relocate the nests to a safe place where the eggs have their best shot at hatching and saving them from poachers and predators. Each end of the bay had these awesome rock formations full of tide pools where we snorkeled daily. My husband surfed almost every day we were there at the south point and we had a view of it from our hotel room. The pool at the resort was clean and a perfect spot to chill after our daily beach adventures. The restaurant was sooooo good! The guacamole was the best I’ve ever had “made to order” and all of the food was fresh and delicious. We ate almost all of our meals at the hotel because it was convenient and a lot of restaurants in town were closed due to it being off-season. Our room was clean and spacious. The grounds were well maintained, the staff at the hotel was very friendly and the location could not have been more perfect for us. I cannot wait to go back! We will definitely stayat the Tronco Bay Inn again - cannot wait for our next trip to Troncones!

My family spent a week at Tronco Bay Inn in December 2017. Reservations were very smooth. We received a warm welcome and the staff maintained their considerate and friendly service for our entire visit. Breakfasts were included and we were free to order as much from the menu as we wanted. Fresh fruit and Mexican specialties predominate and were all very tasty. Of course, the reason to visit is the beach. The property is at the sandiest portion of a tranquil bay that is perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The water was crystal clear and we saw a large variety of sea life. Most dramatic was whale watching from our breakfast table! Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable--the experience was local, NOT an anonymous chain with a room that could be in Topeka. Rooms 1-4 have the best ocean views; 2 and 4 are second floor rooms with the best views. This is an ideal, off-the-tourist-path getaway location where the entire focus is on relaxation and water. I couldn't have had a better time. The property is child-friendly; our four-year-old grandson enjoyed himself tremendously in the pool and on the beach. The bar served an excellent fresh fruit juice margarita for adult tastes.

I have been staying at the Tronco Bay Inn for over 7 years now. In fact it's the only place I will stay when I come down. The rooms are beautiful with nice amenities. I have stayed in just about every room from ocean front to partial ocean view. They all have great working A/C's to make your stay comfortable unlike most places down there. Honestly, no bad room at the Inn, they all have their different charm that fits every budget. The staff is very helpful and responsive. They will go out of there way to help out or get you something you need. You can walk just minutes to one of the finest surf breaks and other breaks are not far. The restaurant at the Inn cooks up some of the best meals I have had in Mexico and they will make you special requests if they can. Also the menu prices are very reasonable and don't forget to order the Chips and Guacamole or the Shrimp fajitas, two of my favorites I live on each day I am there. Overall, I can't wait for my next stay. I was there last April and June and have my next trips planned for this Oct. and next April. You will not be disappointed at the Tronco Bay Inn!

Quiet, beautiful quiet beach with nice lawn chairs. The room is nice and clean, however, don't expect to much. Luckily the gecko in our room seams to eat the cockroaches over night and we only have to clear the dismembered bodies off the floor in the morning. I'm not picky though and this doesn't bother me. I also don't mind the lack of hot water as a cold shower mid day in the heat feels nice, or at least it would if we had any water at all. DAY 2 without even enough water to flush my toilet. There is not a single working toilet on sight and my Spanish is not good enough to find out why. At least I was able to find some toilet paper today but nowhere to use it! I was told by other locals that not long ago the place was without electricity and water for two weeks without any refunds being offered. On arrival we had some beer and the restaurant offered us cooler full of ice. The cooler was filthy and I hope they don't keep food in it. Today the restaurant is open and serving but I can't help but wondering how you offer safe food conditions without any running water? Our neighbor was lucky enough to score a bucket of water for his morning dump. I had to rush the 3km to town to take mine! A great deal, but be careful! You get what you pay for!

I went with another 2 friends and stayed at the room with ocean view! It was simply amazing. I don't like big resorts I rather to be in a quiet place close to the beach and Tronco Bay Inn is perfect. The beds are super confy, the food and beverages were great, the attention couldn't be more perfect, from the first moment until the last minute we feel like we were at home. We want already go back. It's a paradise for a very reasonable price.

I hate to tell anyone about this because it's only got about 10 places and the beach is so wonderful. It's a little farther from the airport, but taxis are very prevalent./ The menu is wonderful, cooks are great but sometimes don't have everything which was not a problem for us. Breakfast comes with the room. Bartender/server is great. Pina Coladas were SO GOOD!!! Housekeeper is thorough, pool needs a little work, but is wonderful or you can swim in the ocean which is a nice temperature.

Troncones itself is fantastic. This is a great location away from the spring break crowd. We felt safe and comfortable throughout our trip. This hotel, though, could use a little help from the management. Rooms were comfortable, but our toilet rarely flushed properly. At one point, the water shut off in the middle of my shower. As far as we could tell, staff decided to spray down the pool deck which took all of the pressure out of the system - maybe best to do this at a time other than 9-10am? The restaurant was a bit sketch - some other guests got quite sick. You need to watch the straws - my best guess is they were being reused as they often had black chunks in them - not a colour that is the natural result of being placed into a pina colada! As some other guests have mentioned, this hotel is not in Troncones. It's about a 45 minute walk out of town and the collectivos run unpredictably. If you want to surf, the hotel is well-placed, but if you want to do anything else you should consider renting a car or staying closer in town, especially since your options for eating are very limited so far out of town and the hotel restaurant is mediocre at best and a health hazard at worst. Also be aware that, even though your booking says "ocean view" and you'll pay for it, you may not actually get it... Overall we loved Troncones and would go back in a heartbeat, but all 4 people in our group (2 couples) agreed we'd stay somewhere else next time.

We loved the beach very quiet. The rooms are great, but be carefull in holidays or busy period .They have one small and ugly room that smells insect repulsive.i think it was the room 13. Other than that ,all the other rooms are perfect. Big with 2 beds. To be safe. Do your reservation with them directly. The restaurant is good. Simple but good ,the steak arrachera was delicious. The coconut shrimp also good. Fajitas etc... But is mostly Mexican. For the price I think it worth a visit at tronco inn. Enjoy!!!
