Owners take pride in this lodge! Attention to detail! Check in was fast and friendly, all my questions were answered. The two bed cabin was clean, quiet and peacefull. Stayed three nights. Gas log burning stove, small kitchen area, bathroom was spotless, cable tv. The lodge felt like "home away from home". I have stayed three other places in Cooke... more

Just prior to 6-day backpacking trip in Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness and also after coming out of backcountry, my wife and I enjoyed a couple of nights at Elk Horn Lodge (Rm #5 and then Rm#6). Both rooms were comfortable with great amenities for the area. We had the opportunity to visit with owners Jeff & Lisa - some of the friendliest... more

My husband stayed here the 3rd night of our trip after doing the Roosevelt Lodge Chuckwagon Cookout. Be aware because of the buffalo blocking this road it may take you awhile to get there if coming from the Roosevelt lodge area. This was the case with us. The cookout ended about 8 pm but we came across buffalo jams across... more

We traveled into Cooke City after travelling down the Beartooth Highway which Charles Kuralt dubbed, "the most beautiful highway in North America". Cooke City is a very small town that relies on tourists going or coming from Yellowstone. We decided to stay in Cooke City before entering Yellowstone and the Lamar Valley. It was a good decision. This hotel is... more

Spent an overnight here whilst touring Yellowstone with my son. This may be a "one street town" but both the Lodge and the town should be judged on their own merits. One of the best places we stayed in, on our week long wander round Montana, Wyoming & Idaho. I stayed there in 2001, and it was just "OK". Its... more

Right at the top of Yellowstone, Cooke City feels about 1909 - though wireless internet has reached it. Spacious comfortable, very quiet room in the middle olf the very small town. City is a rather grand statement. Friendly welcome. more

We stayed in one of the rooms for 4 nights. The location of the Lodge is excellent, just a few miles to Yellowstone and the Beartooth Mountains. Cooke City itself is quite charming, especially the very old-fashioned grocery store. The owner of the lodge provided lots of information and advice on restaurants and trips. The rooms were simple but spacious... more

A warm place on a very cold winter night. We had the "deluxe" room, which is a relative term in a town where the supermarket hasn't changed in 100 years. The price was good (but it was off-off season). The room wasn't new but not shabby and it was very clean. Plenty of hot water. We controlled the heat. Very... more

We loved Elk Horn Lodge. It was clean, comfortable and decorated beautifully. We even stayed an extra night. If we make it back to Yellowstone we would definately go back to Elk Horn Lodge. more

We were welcomed right away by Suzy, the owner. She told us of different places to eat--which were within walking distance-- and other places to visit. The property was clean, well maintained, and decorated like you'd hope a motel in rural Montana ought to be. The room was quiet and had lots of light. We liked the fact there was... more
