This is a friendly, safe place to sleep. We arrived late and hadn't been planning to sleep in a motel that night. Called ahead when we realized the weather wouldn't cooperate with our camping plans. The woman who answered the phone was friendly and sympathetic, and gave us a reduced rate (alas, summer anywhere near Yellowstone means expensive rooms) for a room with two queen beds.
The room was run down and definitely had been smoked in at some point in the life of the carpet. Fixtures were old. Microwave and fridge worked but were also old. The bedding was clean, but The train running nearby makes things a bit noisy.
The lobby was well lit and well decorated though, and there is coffee (no breakfast, but there are several good bakeries within walking distance in Livingston) The young man at the desk in the morning was also very friendly and helpful.
Livingston is a great little town. We found a natural food store, several bakeries, a cafe, and a historic museum...
