We stay at B&B's frequently when we travel, including twice at the Prairie Garden, which rates as our favorite because of the architecture of the house (excedingly well-preserved Prairie-style Craftsman), the comfort and cleanliness of the room (which is more like a suite with its own screened porch), the friendliness of the host and hostess, and the quality of the breakfast. The grounds are lovely. It's also one of the least expensive B&B's we've ever stayed in, so the value is truly extraordinary.

Is there much to do in Howells? No, not really, which makes it a good place to get away and relax in a small-town setting. There are two reasonably nice restaurants in the area including one housed in a former bank and known as "The Bank Quit" (ask the hostess). more
