I'm not sure why the AAA book shows this as 3 stars. Our room on the first floor was extremely noisy. When people above us walked, the ceiling made loud creaking and popping noises. The walls seemed very thin, and we heard noise all night long. The smell of smoke permeates the entire building, even the so-called smoke free rooms.... more

This hotel was a gem in the town of Ely. It is clean, comfortable and nice. The desk staff were very nice and helpful. The outside is kept up nicely, the inside is pleasantly decorated. There is a casino in the hotel but the rooms are all non-smoking. The hotel restaurant can be passed up, even though the waiters/waitresses are... more

3A rate was $90 online but my friend paid $70 by calling the hotel direct. The hotel would not adjust my rate saying they paid 3A for the internet listing service. Hotel is clean and has a so-so restaurant, but the staff is friendly and the location is good. more

We stayed at the Prospector Hotel on August 21st. We arrived late and were greeted by a night auditor smoking at the front desk. If not for the lateness of the hour we would have left . Morning Clerk was smoking at the front desk or walking around the lobby smoking each of the 3 times we came down that... more

The rooms were very clean and tastefully decorated. The room came with a hairdryer, coffee maker, fridge and microwave. There was a free wireless internet connection which was pretty fast. The place was pet friendly and the staff was cordial. Because I had a dog, they gave me a ground floor room next to the back door, which I greatly... more

We really enjoyed our stay at the Prospector. We brought our two dogs and they loved it too since there was a ton of grassy areas around the entire hotel. The rooms were in typical 'Holiday Inn' style (since this used to be a Holiday Inn) and very comfortable. There was a nice and clean indoor swimming pool for the... more

This hotel changed ownership early on in 2007. The new owners, who also own Hotel Nevada, have done a wonderful job at re-vamping the interior and exterior. Staff were friendly, and helpful. I would say this is the best hotel in Nevada, which justifies the reasonable room charge at $69.- Nice bar area, pool is clean and there is a... more

I wanted a room for $30.00 they charged me $94.00 because they ran out with out even telling me. After I had signed the paper I didn't even notice the charge for $94.00 and then the clerk asked me if it was ok. I said NO and I want my money back. The clerk said ok and agreed 2 days... more

This place is HIGHLY over priced! $75 dollars for a dirty room! The carpet was trashed. Everything was dirty in the room. The only thing that saved it was the pool was ok. The help was decent, or at least the girl in the morning was nice. The bald guy at night wasn't the brightest. He tried to bill me... more

When I saw the unfriendly outside from the Motel 6 in Ely, I cancelled my reservation and drive to the Holiday Inn in Ely. Friendly staff and a clean room, and the food in the Restaurant was great, if I'll come back to Ely, I'll stay another night in the Holiday Inn. more
