My mother and I share holidays in Las Vegas (she lives in Florida and I am overseas). We have been staying at Sahara recently, but wanted to try a Fremont hotel. I had been to El Cortez in 2000 and remember what a run down place this was, but also knew the hotel was remodelled. We were thrilled with our... more

There's a reason it's the lowest priced hotel downtown(Fremont East District) but it's still a good bargain. I wouldn't reccoment the Pavilion section, go with the tower or vintage rooms. Note: No pool. The gambling is good and Roberta's Restaurant served some very good food for the price. Try it. There are still some old coin in type dollar slots... more

We spent two nights at the El Cortez and it was probably the best stay we've ever had in Vegas. With the help of a coupon from the American Casino Guide, we spent $30 for two nights in one of their vintage rooms, a huge, clean, and well-furnished suite. Yes, $30 total, $15 a night before tax. These rooms seem... more

Big clean room in the tower. Good location. Great valet. Terrific food at the cafe with generous comps. Weird blackjack sidebets with lots of locals who give you a hard time for not betting the side bet and dealers barely proficient at English. Still, I left with more cash than I arrived with. I may stay there again...it's a good... more

I booked 3 nights at the El Cortez for two friends and I just to prove what a great hotel it really is, and they were knocked-out with the great room, service and food, just as I had anticipated. First, check- in was quick, and our Tower Strip-View room was very cool inside with outdoor temps hovering over 110... The... more

WOW!!!! First off this place is GREAT!!!!! They allowed us to check in early and gave us a free upgrade to a tower room. The tower rooms were spacious with 2 queen beds and the seating alcove. The non-smoking rooms smelled fresh with out even a hint of cigarette odor. A fridge was delivered free of charge just by asking... more

Booking through hotel.com was a breeze. The El Cortez is situated a block from the Fremont Street Experience which means it is quieter and less frenetic. I stayed at a Vintage Room which has the cheapest rate. Sure, you have to lug your bags up a short flight of stairs but the room is big (2 queen size beds) and... more
