Our days of hiking all over the increasingly pricey strip - where you're hardpressed to get a comped beer in the Epcot-like mirage (sic) - ended several years back when we switched to cheaper, friendlier and, I think, more fun, Fremont Street locations. While the Golden Nugget is the downtown jewel with its Old Vegas Rat Pack glitz and polish... More

The Flame located inside the El Cortez is a great value for a good steak dinner. For about $100 including tip you can get two Filet Mignons, an appetizer, two sides, bread and a bottle of wine. Ok this place isn't Mortons Steak House but neither is the price. Atmosphere is Old School Vegas in an Old School Vegas Casino.... More

The El Cortez is long past it's prime but gives you a great value for the price and is not right on Fremont Street, which is a bonus (less noise and street hustlers). Fremont St. is not the place to stay for everyone but if you like to chase your luck by casino hopping and aren't willing to take a... More

We got a room at El Cortez for Thursday and Friday night in the Pavilion building above parking garage. Great location and it is only one block from all the activities on Fremont street. The room was nice and clean and didn't have any problems. We booked the room through Expedia and got buy one night, get one night free.... More

We got the "deluxe room" at the pavilion, which is on the top (5th) floor of a parking garage. Room is average quality, clean and comfy, no issues. For the price we pay, this is definitely a gem in downtown. More

My stay started with the computer system being down and the hotel being unable to give me a room. Since I had to change my clothes and freshen up for a work-related mixer, I had to drag my suitcase into the Ladies Room of the Casino and change in a bathroom stall, putting on my makeup under the fluorescent lights.... I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel and casino. The location is on Fremont and free parking so I never had to drive. I was surprised at how spacious the room was with a queen size bed, 2 closets, a sectional type couch, desk area, coffee maker, hair dryer, complimentary shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and soap. More

Travelled solo. Booked a Vintage room for 2 separate stays of 2 and 3 nights. 1st booking was upgraded to suite. On first entering there is a strong smell of smoke (although rooms allegedly non-smoking). However, soon clears with AC full on. Plenty space in living area (L shaped couch), separate desk area, good storage although bathroom quite small. Casino... More

The room was decent and clean. In a so so area of downtown with the dumpy hotels just down the corner so if you are wanting to be in a nightlife area, this really isn't the place. Stayed in the Cabana suits which were ok. Kinda made me laugh with it looking a little bit like a tacky south beach... More
