The rooms were clean but dated - bathrooms need updating. The hotel staff were all very friendly. For the price, you can't beat it. It is remote from other casinos. Take your own hair products - hotel supplied amenities are incredibly small and not high quality. more

We usually stay at the summit part of the Grand Sierra, but this time we opted for the regular hotel rooms, in an effort to save a little money. The room ended up being upgraded to their mini suite and it was a very nice and spacious room, with lots of room and a conversation area with couch and chairs,... more

If you have to stay here, upgrade to the Summit. The standard rooms are HIDEOUS! The carpet is old and stained, furniture cheesy, water pressure and temp in the shower is inconsistent, cable tv reception poor on many channels, smoking rooms close enough to non-smoking rooms that they shouldn't even bother making a distinction - the list goes on and... more

We stayed at the Grand Sierra while visiting family in Reno. We were there during Street Vibrations, but not actually there to particiipate in the event. Only issues would be with the noise of the motorcycles, and that is not something the hotel can control. We were treated well by the front desk staff, the housekeeping staff, the casino staff... more

We stayed at this hotel on our way back from Burning Man and it was a wonderful find. Our room was luxuriously comfortable and the shower was large enough for more than one person at a time. The toiletries provided were superb too. We had a great time at the "sample yourself" wine bar - you purchase a card with... more

I forgot to post my review of the GSR from March. Since then we have stayed again (Sept) which I will post in another review. "Took Grammy on a trip!" My 14 month old, my mother (aka Grammy), and I went to Reno for 2 days. We took Grammy to see Sylvia Browne (the psychic) and so I could do... more

My family & I visit Reno every month. We stay here 1 night as a drive thru from Las Vegas to San Francisco as we got free night here. So we can't complain much! It's far from everything in the city and other hotels. So nothing is in the working distance. The overall view from Grand Sierra Hotel is nice.... more

Yes, you can step into the '60s at the Grand Sierra. Maybe this was once a swanky place, but oh how it's worn. Amazingly, one of the travel sites--you know, the one that doesn't name the hotel until after you booked it--ranked this 3 and 1/2 stars. Are you kidding me? Mildewy bathroom. Worn carpets. No coffee. You know the... more

We stayed here during Hot August Nights and were treated great, the staff did all they could to make our stay memorable. At check in the Guest Service Agent was pleasant, answered all our questions, set up valet services and was able to give us an upgrade at no extra charge. Our stay was 11 nights and were given a... more
