I attended a conference that was hosted at the Nugget and was terribly underwhelmed. The West Tower has not been renovated, yet the hotel services folks claim it has the best views. We went down the weekend of the 16th of Oct. to celebrate my birthday. We stayed in the West tower on the 26th floor. When you are up that high, you will not hear the trains or the freeway. What is there not to like about John Ascuaga's Nugget? The rooms are clean and spacious, they have a large indoor pool, 8 restaurants, 2 arcades for the kids and free covered parking. It's not as crowded and "touristy" as the other casinos on Virginia St. Definitely a great place to stay. more

The only kind thing I can say about this property is that it is clean. The rooms (supposedly built oin 1998) are a COMPLETE 1970s throw-back --- velour bedding, grapevine wallpaper border and all. The Nugget hotel/casino is always a pleasant stay. The common areas are very clean, the rooms bright and well furnished, and all hotel services are excellent.
