My husband and I live in central NH and just wanted to get away...but not too far away. We decided to explore the White Mountains for a few days. We looked for a place that had character, a good bargain, and served breakfast. The Wayside delivered in all three categories. We stayed in the older section of the Inn...part of... more

From the moment we were seated at this restaurant and smelled the overwhelming stench of cat pee, we sensed that disaster was imminent. We should have left at this point but stayed with the expectation of delicious Swiss food and because of the lovely setting. Unfortunately, our waitress knew nothing about the menu items and was unable to pronounce the... more

I stayed at the Wayside for 2 nights on a trip to the White Mountains with my elderly parents. This historic inn is a few miles outside Bethlehem. It's nicely decorated with antiques. Rooms are large, renovated bathrooms are also roomy. The complimentary full breakfast was delicious, served in the restaurant overlooking beautiful perennial gardens and river. The in has... more

Going to the White Mountains, summer or skiing season, this Inn is a gem. There are nice rooms in the main building, but recommend the separate two-story motel-like building. All of the rooms have balconies looking onto the stream that runs by. Very pleasant. The Riverview Restaurant (the Inn owner is the Chef) in the main building is excellent and... more

We went to the Wayside Inn because we won a gift certificate but I would have rather thrown it out. My boyfriend and I have stayed at a lot of B&B's but this experience was by far the worst. First, there is NOTHING to do in this town besides ski (which was a good time). Every meal we had was... more

After having stayed in fairly modern hotels for the first part of my trip I chose the Waysde for a couple of nights because I knew it was going to be something different. I was not disappointed. It was in a quiet picturesque riverside setting and the building was a largish quant New Hampshire type cottage. I received a friendly... more

When it comes to Inns and B&B's, my fiance and I have very reasonaible expectations. We had researched many places to stay, and eventually settled on the Wayside Inn, especially after reading many of the reviews on this website. If you plan on staying at a place that makes "The Shining" come to life, then this is the place. Otherwise,... more

Recently returned from a trip to The Wayside Inn on a golf package. If for no other reason, you need to stay at The Wayside Inn for the food. We had the most amazing meals while we stayed here I can't rave enough about it. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the golf courses we played at (Waumbek, Maplewood & Bretton Woods)... more

I recently spent 2 nights here in late June 2004; my mom and I stayed in the motel annex, in which all rooms face the Ammonoosuc River. All rooms have a private balcony with comfortable chairs. I could have spent my entire stay just sitting here, reading, snoozing, observing nature, alongside the proverbial babbling brook. The owners' two very gentle... more
