We just completed a 2 night stay at the Clarion Palmer Inn. The rooms were clean and the staff was incredibly accommodating. We were there for a lacrosse tournament, probably 25 families in all, and used the pool and outdoor courtyard both evenings for dinner and cooling off after the games. We were delighted with our stay at this hotel. Continental breakfast was not fancy but a step above that offered by similar establishments. Personal touches made the Palmer Inn feel well cared for and not just another standard corporate chain cutout. As noted above, the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful to guests. more

I arrived with 3 huge luggages and no hotel staff to help a lady / hard to find your room. If I were the brand manager for Choice Hotels, I would travel to NJ and personally rip the Clarion sign from the pole. The hotel's website describes it as an "upscale hotel." I booked a few nights in this hotel because they offered an affordable university rate ($95/night). At first, I thought the accommodations were adequate, but there were enough problems with the hotel that I don't think I would return. If you need to visit Princeton University, this is a good site to start your trip. It takes only about 5-10 minutes to arrive on the Princeton campus, no matter what the time of day. I do not see what all of the negative reviews are about here. I found the recently renovated hotel classy, clean, and a very good bargain for the area. The good thing is the price. The staff is also friendly and knowledgable. The rooms are big and the lobby area looks OK. The shower works. We stayed here 4 nights. I found the staff very helpful and Charlie Brown's was a good value for the evening meal. The room slept well, the A/C was good and our room was quiet, but if there is a lot of activity at the pool, the rooms would not isolate the noise. For my purposes the location was great... more
