Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My room had no blankets and the room was freezing. The sheets had yellow stains all over The heater made very loud noise so I had to turn it off. I had to change my room because there was a problem with the toilet and the room reeked like sewer and when I told the manager he made me wait in the room till engineering came in the room, fixed the problem and reported back to the manager It took them hours to report it to the manager and they would not give me another room until I finally raised my voice. Few people working front desk gave contradicting information about everything. overall experience was horrible …the worst experience I have had at any hotel.

This is my go to hotel when visiting NYC. Have not been in a few years, and I agree rooms need some updating, but overall a very good stay. Gilbert at front desk handled check-in very well. Very nicely explained benefit of taking bus over rail line into NYC. Bus stop just a half block away, $3.50 1-way charge into 42nd Ave bus station, and fairly easy 10-block walk south to Madison Square Garden. No stops along way, and we were at station in less than 20 minutes. Room was clean, bed was comfortable. Shower pressure was a little low, and old fashioned Heat/AC unit was a little loud, but not uncomfortably so. Got a nice upgrade to room 619 which offered a partial view of city skyline. Breakfast next morning was excellent. Jorge went above an beyond. When I asked if I could get an extra egg, he stated "have two more....Have a dozen!" He definitely made our morning. Chose room rate that included parking, and overall a decent rate for the area. Plenty of parking outside in attached lot. Will return here during next trip to area. Only downside is that Arthur's Tavern, a perennial favorite Steak House that used to be down the street in Hoboken closed last year. Sorry to see that great establishment close up, but there's still The Chart House just a short walk away.

Shocking hotel rooms outdated. Location ok. Front desk reservations need full training. They don’t listen about your concerns about your card been overcharged never mentioned how much was taken from your card on check in or there’s a damaged to room payment and it will take 10 working days to go back to card. That was part of my spending money and I’m $565 short When I questioned it I was told eh …. Shrugged nothing I can do… I said why was I charged $565 for damage holdings for room. They couldn’t answer..This wasn’t explained. On to Sheraton now full of automated emails etc. They couldn’t care less. They need to have procedures in place. When I checked out really nice girl said it’s was way to much excess charge. I will never stay in a Sheraton again. Sort out your reception staff as they all seem to have no clue how to check in or explain payments etc. still waiting on my money….. not happy

Maybe it’s the New Jersey attitude, or poor compensation and low moral. Front desk is poorly managed, zero understanding of quality customer service or kindness here. Rooms are outdated old and brown. Beds are comfortable. Restaurant is very good.

Our son and daughter in law moved to Hoboken and recently had a baby. We have stayed at the Sheraton several times now and I can’t express how nice all of the people there are! They truly made it easier for us by being accommodating and kind. Marie, Kevin, Kate, Gigi, Gene( Jean?), all took the time to be helpful and we really appreciated it! We love the beds and the views! Though the hotel is older, it is very comfortable! Thank you we will be back a lot!

I had stayed here previously, albeit some years ago, and had a good experience so booked for 3 nights for myself and my son who was celebrating his 18th birthday. I had hoped for a river/Manhattan view but instead we looked out into an office block. A shame but not as disappointing as realising the rooms have not been decorated in the 10 years since I last stayed. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are spacious but the lighting is atrocious. Even with every single lamp on, which involves going round every lamp individually, (all 5 of them), the best you get is a dim light. Complimentary drinks are cardboard cups, 2 sachets of milk and a couple of coffee bags, plus 2 bottles of water. Not even a biscuit! For the price I would expect better. Air con is the loudest known to man and will wake you if it kicks in. Bathroom is passable. On check in we were asked if we wanted daily housekeeping. Said no to the following morning but asked for it to be done on 2nd morning. Got back from sightseeing to find they hadn’t been so bins were full etc. it’s really not acceptable to have to ask for toilet roll. Can’t comment on restaurant as we had breakfast along the waterfront at Turning Point and ate out in Hoboken in evenings. The location is great but it really needs a full refurbishment. Also, charging for wifi in 2023 - really?!

Gene, the manager was amazing. Kevin was incredibly helpful! Great location! Jorge was the best in the restaurant. Very kind and great service. Ferry is right out the door to Manhattan. Hoboken is a great walk along the Hudson with walking and running paths. Trader Joe's and Whole Foods conveniently located. The beds are super comfortable, and housekeeping was always offering us water and towels. Hotel is super dog friendly. Will definitely stay here again. Also, they gave us free parking. It is easy in and out and close to Newark Airport and safe and secure. Please note the executive lounge is closed and there is no room service. Both of these are on their website and need to be removed. The fitness center is clean and has modern equipment.

I do not usually review work hotel stays but this one was so awful I wanted to help those searching for choices in the area. This is not your pick. Dirty, dated. Noisy. A/c and heat units very loud. Windows have terrible light blocking, huge gabs at top and bottom. Bathroom dirty with hair left on floor. Breakfast took 1 hour and not very good. Service at restaurant poor. Restaurant was packed at 10am with people just sitting and talking, taking up tables for those who wanted to eat. This place needs a full top to bottom renovation. Please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Although the hotel is well located, the room was tired and scruffy. There was no fridge and we had to call reception to get enough towels and water for the three of us. The free parking was a plus, but I wouldn't describe this as four star!
