The Lord Charles is 40 minutes east of Cape Town. Although some refurbishment is being carried out, it is necessary to ask for the refurbed rooms if at all possible. This is a hard hotel to review. Its location is quite a distance from downtown Cape Town. If you want to visit the Winelands you would be better off staying in Stellenbosch or Franschoek and if you want to be by the sea the NH Lord Charles does not fit that bill either, being quite a distance from Gordon's Bay.... more

The rooms are being renovated, and in the old rooms the furniture is pretty basic and old fashioned. The showerheads are positioned very low and cannot be moved which means that unless you are 5'7' or less you have to bend down.
