This hotel was just a roadside place. Not very nice, but was very clean. Even though it is right next to the Rio Chama, there are no rooms overlooking the river or taking advantage of any interest in the surroundings. The gravel parking lot runs right up to the front door. There seemed to be a lot of hunters staying... more

We booked the largest cabin at the Elkhorn Lodge a couple of weeks in advance. It was $119 for a 2 bedroom cabin with a kitchenette. When we got there, it was really a trailer home with terrible beds and pillows. The entire room felt slightly dingy, but we are in the mountains, so I ignored it. The rooms were... more

My wife and I stayed in this place couple of days, and we can asured that we spent two beautiful days. The place is nice, clean and nobody around us bothered us even when busy.We found the room was ok and clean. Seemed OK on-line and I was shopping price so I called the gentleman at the desk who was very folksy and helpful. I booked 2 nights about 2 weeks in advance. We stayed in the motel section and the rooms are in very bad need of rehab. There is no internet service available. Stubbed my toe on a 2X4 block... more

Ok, don't know where to even start!!! I called twice to comfirm my reservation, and both times they knew that I had a government discount, and when I went and paid for the room it was like $70.00 more than what they quoted me, and of course no one knew what they were doing, that Friday afternoon when we checked... more

My husband and I and our toddler stayed here in June 2008. We chose this place because of the limited options in the area and what we could find online. At first glance, the cabin seemed cute and rustic. We encountered something entirely different: a refrigerator that could have worked much better, a non-working freezer, a rust-colored bath (not sure... more

November 3-4 2007 Staying at the lodge turned out less than what we had expected. Even though the owner/manager Jill was friendly and chatty we would have expected more from our stay. The cabin looked alright at first sight but it needed much attention. Here is a list of things we thought could have been better especially for $89 a... more

We hit Chama at the peak of the Fall colors, so there wasn't much left. Honestly, that's how we wound up at the Elkhorn Lodge. I sure wouldn't have stayed there voluntarily. The guy at the front desk was indifferent but not unpleasant. Just, "Sign this," "Here's your key," and "The room's back there," with a motion. No welcome, no... more

We stayed in the Motel part of Elk Horn Lodge. The carpet had big spots all over it. None of the electrical outlets worked, except if you held the plug in yourself. The tile down around the tub was cracked and molded and had centipedes that crawled out of it. My husband killed black bugs on the paneling, which he... more

My darling hubby is leaving for the Middle East in a couple of weeks and we wanted to have a special week end just the two of us. We drove up to Chama, NM and stayed at the Elkhorne Lodge. The staff was wonderful. Ira, the lady with a beautiful German accent ,who took our reservation over the phone hugged... more
