Stayed here last night driving from Austin -> Denver. Debated pushing onward but the great reviews on here (and elsewhere) convinced me otherwise. A good night's rest and their full breakfast were both tempting and the Kokopelli Lodge didn't disappoint. I though everyone loved it simply because there aren't many options in Clayton. Not true - all the positive reviews... more

Picked this hotel based on trip advisor reviews and so glad I did. The rooms were huge - bathroom was clean and decor was simple and eclectic. Dinner and breakfast were complimentary! If you're looking for something to do, try the Clayton Lake state park for dinosaur prints and Capulin volcano for amazing views. We stayed at the Kokopelli lodge... more

Great rooms, decor, and wonderful full hot breakfeast. We used this location as a center point to travel to Raton, Trinidad, Folsom, Capulin Volcano, Sugarite Canyon State Park, Clayton Lake State Park, and other venues. Very friendly staff. Clean, nice little park to sit and relax. I thought price was great. more

We stayed two nights at the Kokopelli Lodge, going out on our trip and again coming home. Large room, very clean, and quiet, although light sleepers might hear the trains which came through Clayton about 3 times during the night. The staff was friendly and knew their town well. When I asked the clerk for a recommendation of a restaurant,... more

We travel through Clayton about twice a year and have stayed at three different hotels. The Best Western Kokopelli is by far your best choice. Nothing fancy but good comfortable location and a decent breakfast. I have stayed down the street at the Day's Inn, this is much better. Good staff. Clayton has very limited restaurant choices, plan accordingly. more

My visit to Clayton took me to the Kokopelli which I've stayed at before, but this time, it was better. The rooms have been refurbished. Beautiful paint accents the room, the bathroom is huge, the bed new and firm, just the way I like it. The staff was kind, with small town charm and manners to match. The complimentary breakfast... more

Pros: Very nice staff, well-kept facilities, very clean, great breakfast. Our king-bed room was well-equipped with iron, ironing board, coffee maker (the single cup style - best kind for tea drinkers - no coffee residue), fridge (but no micro), good speed wireless internet, comfortable bed. The gift shop had some very nice, high-quality, Southwestern items. Cons: The highway runs in... more

This was the first stop on our vacation. I made our reservations based on Trip Advisor and once again I was not let down. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was pretty good, although dining was a little cramped. Our room was fantastic, the bed was comfortable, there was a big recliner, a big flat screen... more

We travel all over from East to West and I have to say, this was a charming hotel. Starting at the front desk with two of the sweetest ladies you could ever meet. Our room was decorated in a southwest theme, from spanish tiles to western switchplates. We had a coffee maker, microwave/fridge. and all those little soaps and shampoos.... more

This is a nice place, my wife and I liked it, but ... 1) the rooms are dark and have low ceilings; and 2) they offer a 'free breakfast' but you are restricted to ONE glass of milk OR ONE glass of juice and NO more — but all the coffee you want. It is not a cheap motel and... more
