We stayed in the Maid Marian Cabin at Forest Home Cabins in Ruidoso, New Mexico from October 3-5, 2006. Centrally located to explore many southern New Mexico attractions. We were arriving late and called to make arrangements to pick up a key (no problems at check-in...the manager opened late to give us the key and area info). The cabin was typical of the area. Nice kitchenette with sink, mini-fridge and micro. Bath was adequate with a huge soaking tub. Bed needs replaced (definitely old and worn). Linens were not picked up from front porch and we had to go to the garage/laundry area each day for fresh towels. Cabin had a smoky smell-due to fireplace not properly venting? Be prepared for a very small living area. (We couldn't bring in both of our suitcases...only room for one.) If you are looking for a rustic experience in the woods, this is the place. It was nice and quiet and well located for exploring the area. If you want more of the "comforts of home" stay... more
