We celebrated our 30th Wedding anniversary by taking the family (23 and 26yo) with us for a tour of SA and stopped off at Rippons for 3 nights. What a great place, really nice people and we got to see everything we wanted game drive wise, all of the top 5. Rooms good, and the evening drives with stopping for... more

Every other lodge we had wanted was booked up and Rippons was all that was left that fitted our honeymoon itinerary. We were worried when no one we spoke to had heard of it, but it turned out to be part of the famous Shamwari game reserve (the budget end but still very comfortable and good value). The drive from... more

We stayed at Rippons for 3 nights as the last leg of our South Africa Easter holiday and were very impressed with the Lodge. We'd been to Shamwari some years ago so were really pleased to find that the game drives from Rippons encompassed the Shamwari game reserve and its incredible scenery. The food and accommodation were great and we... more

Stayed at Rippon's for 3 nights in April and had an amazing time. It really rounded off our adventure in South Africa. The Lodge is beautiful and restful, with excellent service. The ranger we had, Francis, was fantastic- he really knew his stuff and we learnt so much from him, without him being pretentious or over-the-top. We managed to see all... more

Good value-for-money safari lodge. The lodge was fairly small (by comparison to some others) but this made the stay all the more intimate. Game drives were very enjoyable and the guides incredilbily knowledgeable. The rangers ensured that we saw all the animals that we wanted to - with some spectacular close encounters too. Technically Ripppons only own 16,000 hectares but... more

We stayed at Rippons in March for 2 nights and had an absolutely wonderful time. We had arranged a transfer from Port Elizabeth airport and were greeted as the car pulled up by the manager Allouise who showed us our room and gave us a history of the lodge. We were made to feel very welcome. We stayed at the... more

We stayed in the Long Barn at Rippons for 2 nights in February, we paid for transfers from Port Elizabeth, this was the start of our holiday so we picked up the rental car after the safari, definitely worth being driven there in a 4WD but most of the other guests had driven there without any problems. The safari was... more

My husband and I stayed at Rippons for 2 nights and it was superb! The lodge is just outside Shamwari, and has its own reserve as well as access to Shamwari. We arrived around lunch time and were shown to our room and around the lodge, and then settled for lunch (good food with lots of choice) and took our... more
