We were fortunate to enjoy a weekend at Earthsong Lodge in the Entabeni reserve in early December 2007, courtesy of the general manager. It is a five-star safari lodge with ten loose-standing units, each with a large bedroom/lounge, large bathroom with bath and shower, own fireplace as well as a veranda overlooking the Waterberg mountains. The units flank a central swimming pool and outside dining area and the entire complex is unfenced with wonderful views across grass plains and a wetlands area abundant with birdlife (apparently over 400 species). The view is set against the backdrop of the Waterberg mountain range and both Earthsong and the nearby Wildside luxury tented camp form part of the lower escarpment area of the Entabeni reserve. There are also various lodges on the upper escarpment, which is reached by a very steep road up a gorge, only accessible with the reserve’s own game drive vehicles.
