Mabel Dodge Luhan was a cultural catalyst in the early 20th century, an important figure who although a NYC socialite and former lover of John Reed as well of wife of four husbands, influenced art. The house she built with her soulmate Tony Luhan, a native of Taos, from the existing four-room adobe is fascinating. The staff is warm and... More

My boyfriend and I have been staying at the Mabel Dodge Luhan House off and on for six years. When we leave Santa Fe for Taos we enjoy staying in this historic house. We've stayed there in winter, spring, summer and fall. We've stayed in the main house as well as the Juniper House. We love coming here to experience... More

i was at the property for a workshop -- and it's situated very close to town which is great! literally a 5 minute walk, through a park, to the square. it has a gorgeous, desert-like feeling with all adobe buildings. i was in a house that is not in the main building, and while it was adequate, it was not... Mabel Dodge Luhan House is a retreat center that functions as a bed and breakfast when there are no workshops in session. I have stayed here many times over the last eleven years for writing workshops. Rooms are simple (no television, no phone) but comfortable and pretty. I like to stay in the guest house where the plumbing is more... More

The Mabel Dodge Luhan House is a gem for those who appreciate interesting architecture, attention to detail, and an environment conducive to conversation, meditation, and quiet past times--not the place for those who need to be entertained. On our part, we didn't miss having a television in our rooms--we enjoyed pre-breakfast walks and a late-night scrabble game (note that there... More

The other reviews are right in that this is a quirky and VERY SPECIAL place. There are no televisions anywhere and the internet service is limited to the living area of the main house. This house is almost 100 years old and has so much history. If you are in the mood for this space, it is a wonderful and... More

If you're into the early history of Taos and its artists and book a room here because it's Mabel Dodge Luhan's home, you'll get a great deal of atmosphere. Just be aware that for the most part these rooms are tiny and spartan -- no air conditioning and the rooms can get quite stuffy even with windows open; curtains are... More

When I visited my brother in Albuquerque, he took me to his favorite city, Taos, and his favorite bed and breakfast. This house has a fascinating history, nestled privately down a back road, with quaint bedrooms, homey living rooms and a wonderful dining area, with seating inside or outside. Each room boasts the name of the various famous celebrities who... More

This place has always been quirky, and the lady who runs it rude, but we love the history and have visited before knowing what to expect. However, our last visit we were shocked to see all the new overhead stadium lights in historic Kit Carson Park that now permit ball games (w/ screaming & honking cars) past 9pm nightly! The... More

I came upon this hotel when I was desperately searching online for a place to stay in Taos, NM on Memorial Day weekend. I had left it to the last minute and made a reservation the day before. I really didn't know what to expect based on the previous reviews but since we had little choice, we decided to take... More
