I have been to taos many times for extended periods of time, but casa gallina is THE place I will always come back to from now on. I have spent four weeks there and stayed in two of the casitas. I loved them both, although the leghorn is my favourite as it is one big space, beutifully furnished. Light, cozy,... more

This is a wonderful place to stay. I arrived to a bottle of wine and a lovely assortment of treats in my room. Richard (owner) is both gracious and delightful. He greeted me at arrival and made sure that all my needs were met and also helped me locate places in Taos that would be of interest during my visit.... more

From the minute one pulls into the driveway until the minute one leaves all is perfection and all has been thought through to make your stay just that "Perfect". There is not one detail that has not been thought through with the comfort of the guests stay in mind. Richard Spera the owner of the casitas is most likely the... more

Richard has made his casitas like small homes. Everything is there from cooking equipment to computers to stereos to a gas grill to even fresh eggs. The colorful decor made me want to stay in and enjoy the surroundings. His apple and plum trees added fresh fruit to my daily repasts. I was in the 2 bedroom and there was... more

Outstanding accommodations and a superb host, Richard Spera. There was a special welcome with scrumtious snacks and a bottle of wine, topped off with a personal greeting, with Richard giving a tour of the chicken coops and the vegetable gardens. He then briefly ticked off some recommendations of sights to see, with a map. The rooms are magnificantly decorated; the... more

We loved our stay at Casa Gallina. Everything was amazing. Richard knows how to treat his guests. We had a amazing breakfast prepared in Richard's kitchen the first day with fresh chantrelles and eggs (from RIchard's chickens) with truffle oil. I could go on and on, but lets just say this breakfast is not to be missed. The accomodations are... more

My husband and I have recently returned from our second stay at Casa Gallina. We go to Taos to stay at Richard's, not the other way around! It is a destination in itself. Other reviewers have pretty well covered it, but I will add my voice to the chorus of those who appreciate the beautiful, restful, romantic, rural retreat that... more

This place was so amazing that I dropped the idea of going anywhere in Taos, in favor of just relaxing in the front gardens, in the back hammock, among the knick knacks of the sitting room, and carefully perusing and enjoying all the handmade details of all the wall hangings, the hammered tin plates carefully embedded within the kitchen, the... more

Casa Gallina is an incredible place. My wife, our 4 year old son, & I stayed three nights and didn't want to leave. I go to Taos every year to ski and stay with friends that live there, but my wife and son had never been. From the reviews I had read, Casa Gallina sounded like the perfect Taos experience... more

My significant other and I, along with two 10-yr. old girls stayed a week, and loved every minute. I've been to lots of B&B's but nowhere compares to Richard's place. What a perfect host. He whipped up home-made pastries daily and helped us in many ways, making our stay a delight. We will be back many more times. more
