Judith has created a charming little guest house for singles and doubles who are looking for an alternative to the chain motels. When I first arrived, she had left the house open for me, and I took a wonderful hot tub- a robe and slippers were provided. Judith makes her house available for you, although she is quite specific about... more

This was a great little B&B. We stayed in the master suite and it was very quaint and peaceful, with an outdoor hot tub. She doesn't serve breakfast but was more than happy to give great suggestions for places to eat and things to do around town. I'd definitely come back here! more

If visiting Taos and wanting a place to stay as special and unique as the surrounding locale, the Duncan Retreat House is wonderful! Proprietor/founder Judith Duncan has a gift for creating an incredibly inviting and relaxing home complete with beautiful garden, hot-tub, hammock and places to relax and enjoy oneself, both inside and out. A comfortable blend of privacy and... more

This is what happened: (To make a very long story short) My husband broke his hip while skiing at Taos, New Mexico but luckily he was staying at the Duncan House Retreat. I was at home in CT and Judith Duncan could not have been more helpful. She went to the emergency room to make sure my husband had everything... more

Enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, comfy sitting room, and having the ability to cook. However, when we took the "guest" dishes out of the cupboard, we had to wash each of them before using - the result of prior inconsiderate guests. Also, there is a "no shoe" policy, but the dirt seems to get in and spread itself out everywhere somehow.... more

Even in March when the flowers are just starting to sprout, the garden is a relaxing place to sit and sip your tea. We used the hot tub every night. The Master suite is sunny and magical and has its own separate entrance. We love to hike and Judith was able to advise us on places to go. You are... more

I absolutely loved the hot tub in December! Judith is a most gracious hostess- It felt like home away from home. This was my first trip to Taos, and I'm not interested in staying anywhere else when I return. Clean, very comfortable, beautifully decorated. Feels like a retreat at budget prices! more

Duncan House is just the place to go to relax, enjoy gardens and mountains, and be treated with gracious hospitality. Genuine kindness is the rule. Walk into the garden, past the gurgling water in the fish pond, and enter the calm and welcoming home. Feel free to use the kitchen- a nice feature since too many B&B's don't allow that.... more

Judith Duncan is the most pleasant host of the Duncan Retreat, a small but very well maintained B & B in Taos. It is a perfect getaway in a tranquil and ideal location -- right between downtown and the ski mountain, walkable to Orlando's Restaurant and a 5 minute drive to Pizza Outback (both highly recommended). First, there is the... more

I just returned from a writing conference/artist retreat in Taos, New Mexico, where I stayed at the Duncan Retreat, a perfect spot for inspiration and serenity. The Duncan Retreat is off a quiet road, yet convenient to great restaurants, shops, and a wonderful organic grocer (Cid's Market), as well as the Taos Pueblo and a number of art museums and... more
