Not first rate but fine if you don't mind 5 dogs, old plumbing, and tv overhead when you go to bed. Went there based on TA and was disappointed. more

Lodging options between Grants, NM and Gallup, NM are completely non-existent--except for the Zuni Mountain Lodge, located 13 miles south of I-40 in the tiny hamlet of Thoreau, NM (pronounced Thoo-ROO). My husband and I stayed here for two nights over Memorial Day weekend, so I am posting this review somewhat belatedly...we chose this property as a base to visit Chaco and Bisti Badlands, and it seemed like it would be more charming than staying in Farmington or Bloomfield, which are north of Chaco. Zuni Mountain Lodge is a fun place to stay and the price is certainly right! The owner is kind, welcoming and friendly and full of good informed advice about where to go and what to see.
