We stayed in Tucumcari, NM on our way to visit friends in New Mexico and were pleasantly surprised by both the town and the motels. The innkeeper at Motel Safari called us to see if we needed directions to get there and was very friendly and nice. The motel is on a strip with a lot of other independently-owned motels... More

We stayed at this motor court on the Rockabilly weekend and it was great. Very clean and nicely done in 1950's retro style. Would recommend this to anyone into history. The motel is owned by very nice people. We had a good time talking to them out on the patio. Nice sign that reads Glenrio and Lupton and has arrows... More

The Motel Safari continues to rate among the top motels anywhere on Route 66. Even though it's more than 50 years old it has been brought up to modern standards with the addition of pillow-top mattresses, flat-screen TVs, and big fluffy towels. It's clean, neat, well-maintained and just a super place to spend the night.

We were pleasantly surprised by how nice this motel was. It was redecorated nicely and extremely clean. The owner showed us the room and how everything worked. The cleaning products or air freshener they used smelled great when we walked in. The bed was comfortable and there were thick, fluffy towels in the room (something you rarely get in any... More

The Motel Safari brought back so many great memories! The rooms were super clean and the bed was very comfortable. Gail (the owner) took great care of us, in fact I left my computer there and she took the time and effort to ship it to us. I would recommend this hotel as a "bucket list" stay.

We stayed on Saturday, June 1st. Drove in from Oklahoma, arrived a little after 8pm. Gail (the owner) showed us to our room and explained everything that we may need. Obviously this is an older motel, but I was so glad we chose to stay here instead of one of the chain hotels. It is very, very clean. The beds... More

There are a couple of "retro" motels in Tucumcari and we decided to give Motel Safari a try. It's clean, comfortable and well worth the money! It's easy to find on the original Route 66. Gail called us to be sure we would be coming in (nice touch) and she was there to welcome us, lead us to our room... More

This is a great overnight stop. Received a nice greeting from the lady at the desk who walked us to our room and sowed us all the features of the room. The room was stoles and tastefully updated in 50's style. The price was about half what the chain places were asking! We love the older style motels where we... More

We stayed at the Safari during our Route 66 trip (Chicago to LA) and this is a great motel. It is clean, well maintained, beautifully decorated and still looks authentic. Very comfortable beds. Exceptional value and a great welcome from Gail who was really nice and very helpful. Would highly recommend this motel.

I spent the night at Motel Safari with my two young sons and it was wonderful. Excellent customer service from Gail who showed us our room and made sure we knew where everything was and how to use the air conditioning unit. The room was SPOTLESS, the linens smelled great, and despite being on Route 66 the room was blissfully... More
