Just stayed at the adjacent Walnut Canyon Inn (all part of the "White's City Resort" complex, along with an RV campground and several individual casitas). The property has recently changed ownership and is in the process of being renovated. While the "resort's" (using the term very loosely) rustic appearance might be offputting to some (read carrotseed's review for a good,... more

We chose to stay at the Best Western Cavern Inn because of its proximity to Carlsbad Caverns National Park. We anticipated several round trips from the park to the motel and back, and didn't want to add an additional 20 miles (40 miles round trip) to/from Carlsbad. A mistake. The hotel is no longer affiliated with Best Western. It is... more

Unfortunately, we booked our room before reading the reviews. After reading what others had experienced, we were braced for the worst. The bottom line: This is not a 5 star resort. But they don't claim to be. It's a motel in the armpit of NM. And for that I really can't complain. In fact I'd even go as far as... more

The property has a short list of positives. It is the closest motel to Carlsbad Caverns (a 15 min. drive to the Visitor Center.) The water pressure in the shower was very good and the hairdryer had decent power. That's it. We arrived about 1 hour before the official check-in and were told that the room was not ready even... more

I have used Best Western Hotels when I vacationed in New Mexico before, and they are usually adequate. Not this one. It was dark and a gloomy place to stay. When I moved the curtains to get some light, a few dead moths dropped out. The staff was very unfriendly and not helpful. But the people in the stores around... more

We did not actually stay at the Best Western Hotel, but had to enter the lobby to register at the campsite. After driving many hours we of course needed to use a restroom upon arriving. The ladies public restroom in the lobby of the hotel was absolutely disgusting. It was absolutely unuseable. 3 out of 4 toilets didn't flush, there... more

I am torn here. I’ve been staying in White’s City in one of their hotels or another since my first visit to the Caverns in 1982. I believe the traveler needs to make a decision—does he or she want the convenience of staying 2/10 of a mile from the park entrance in a now clearly underwhelming, barley meeting standards hotel... more

Just got back and this place was great. The rooms were not the greatest but they were fine to sleep in. The water park was great we spent a lot of time there and had a ball. The museum was great the exhibits were a little dusty but everything was 150 years old what do you expect. The only thing... more

Best Western has bought 3 small old drive-up motels that are next to each other & called them one. Our room is gross, the carpet is stained everywhere. There is no hot water and this place is way overpriced. Whatever you do, do not eat at the "Saloon". The food is not edible, I just had the "taco plate" and... more

We picked this hotel due to it's close proximity to the Carlsbad Caverns. I and my wife stayed at the BW Cavern Inn, in part, because we are BW Gold Crown members. The stay was a nightmare. While we were on a day trip with 30 Girl Scouts, our room was entered and my wife's gold wedding rings were stolen... more
