Visited on an overlanding camping trip. I really liked this place and wished that we had more time here. We pulled in as the sun was setting and only had a few minutes to enjoy the nicest and largest pool I saw anywhere in Africa. But that was OK because we could go enjoy the bar for a bit afterwards.... More

Planet Baobab is a great place to stay in a stunning part of Botswana. To be sure, this is not a five-star lodge, but it is not trying be in that class. The chalets are basic, comfortable, and have mosquito nets, which, we found, are necessary due to the presence of malaria. The one drawback we found was that the... More

Chose the hotel due to being in the brochure of the travel agent. Rated with ***. Earns not even one *. The huts are made of concrete, have never been refurbished and obviously not cleaned for a long time. Collectors might find whole series of mosquitos on the bed and if some are missing they´ll come at night, because between... More

Spent on night at Baobob heading north. Cool grounds with enormous baobob trees. Best part is the huge pool, but the unique bar area is nice as well. Bathrooms and showers are basic and had no lights, so had to shower in the dark. Overall, a good place to stopover and go for a swim!

We stayed in the campsite of Planet Baobab last August 2012 while travelling through Botswana with a group, going from Maun towards Chobe National Park, on the North of the country. This campsite-lodge is very well located, near Gweta Town, and next to the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. It offers basic accommodation, but in a very nice and original place;... More

We took a little breather here on the way back from Kasane/Maun. We were enthralled with the huts and grand baobabs. The staff were delightful and dinner service under the stars was magical. Our vehicle was not suitable for the deep sands in the salt pans park but we were able to make our way to the edge of the... More

We camped at Planet Baobab in May 2012. We only stayed one night as a stopover before camping at Baines Baobab. We really enjoyed our night there and would recommend it to other travelers - the campsites are a little close together and you do hear the noise of the main road - but otherwise the ablutions were the best... This is the most beautiful campsite in Botswana. The site seems to have been built around 5,000 year old Baobob trees. The site is one of the most magnificent sites in the world. They have working hot showers that are private but outdoors. There's a bar, restaurant, and clean pool. We were camping and brought our own food supplies so... More

We stayed in this quirky place and loved it. The rooms are rondavel style with your own baobab tree up front. A little sit out in front lets you enjoy a beverage and admire the massive specimen a few yards from you. There is a huge cool swimming pool that lets you cool off in the heat. The rooms have... I cannot comment on the camping part of the operation, but the campers seemed very happy with what they had. The Bakalanga hut we had was very good, but the mossie nets were full of holes! For most of our stay there was no water. They have a problem with their well, which a review from August brought up. I... More
