5 * all the way :) The quick flip from Maun into camp was scenic and fun... On arrival in the GVV we were greated by the female staff singing to us and were handed cool towels to clean our hands. Our tent which was closest to the main tent was perfectly decorated with everything we needed and WHAT a... More

Stayed at Macatoo for 6 nights in November 2012. First experience with Botswana, Okavango and horseback riding in such an environment. I would consider myself as an intermediate rider with a passion for horses and nature, but with a bit of lack of experiences in regard to riding. So i was a bit anxious about the riding level. I ended... More

Strong hearted horse riders this safari is (good) for you! Journey stops at Maun and adventure starts with this first flight above the Delta before reaching a dusty airstrip in the middle of nowhere. Then austral Africa as you once dreamed it gets you by the guts (forever) with its light, colours, odours and sounds. Silence never occurs when sun... More

For us the holiday really started when we boarded the four seater plane at Maun; the pilot welcomed us on board with all the charm that we came to associate with the Okavango. As we flew, below us stretched Africa, promising adventure. We arrived at an airstrip called Cement, it was sandy, some impala scuttled out of the way and from... More

I spent a week at Macatoo as a singleton and had a fantastic time. The tents were luxurious with stunning views, large terraces, comfortable beds, impressive bathrooms and were peaceful. The riding was outstanding - fast, exhilirating, riding very close to game, great scenery and with very knowledgable and impressive guides. The horses were well cared for, responsive, forward going,... More

We custom made a trip through Botswana, traveling between 4 camps. We are riders, so we thought that riding with the animals would be fun. We had no idea how much fun it could be. We were up every morning, eating breakfast at 6:00 and out for a 4:00 ride from 7:00 to 11:00. Our guide, Bongwa is half horse... More

If you are not at Macatoo for the horseback safaris, you may be somewhat challenged....the boating advertised was not in the stated craft. So the non-riders in our group had to make the best of limited game drives and 'fishing' boat rides, not photography boat rides. That said, the best sightings of wattled cranes happened at this camp (we visited... More

You need not temper you expectations of Africa, this is absolutely the romantic vision of Africa. From flying in on a small plane to flying out, Macatoo is wonderful. The wildlife is not out there, it is all around you, from the bush buck and her faun around camp to the elephants that mud bath in front of your tent,... More

My husband and I along with our 20 year old daughter spent a week at Macatoo in August. It was as amazing as I had hoped. We were very comfortable in our tent, the food was quite good and the rides were a dream come to life. We saw all the species we expected (except we did not see a... More
