Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a haven for drunks who stumble throughout the hotel and hang out in front of it until 4am. If you are a drunk, this place is for you. Otherwise, stay away. more

Pros: This hotel is your fairly typical three-star establishment. The decor is 40's glam inspired, the staff is very helpful, and the rooms are clean and well-appointed. We had a microwave, a mini-fridge, a coffee maker, and a safe. The desk and desk chair were actually well set up for working, and the bed was comfortable. The location is also... more

Picked this hotel despite some of the reviews based on the Clarion name and a desire to avoid cookie-cutter chain options. I could not have been more disappointed. The website does acknowledge that the entrance isn't the front of the old building, but rather the plain looking back of the building. What you don't see on the website is the... more

We love this hotel and have stayed there often while on the way to the South Jersey shore, its clean, unique and all round a very pleasant place to stay. Its convenient to local restaurants and downtown facilities. more

I would not feel so negatively about this hotel if it had been priced accurately -- at around $80 a night. Unfortunately, they charge much more. We had a lot of problems at this hotel. For one, in order to get the internet to work on your computer, you have to go down to the lobby, connect, and go back... more

There is nothing either grand nor royale about this place. It reminded me of Miss Haversham's moldy mansion in Great Expectations. The common areas were forlorn and rundown, the staff had a very "take it or leave it" attitude, and add to that the local character in the bathing suit and swim goggles who lurks by the front door and... more

A unique hotel, it has potential, but it appeared as though they were letting it run down. Some places could use brightening up. It certainly could use a small restaurant or "bar" type eatery, especially for their continental breakfast. I too found the afternoon staff very friendly, but the morning staff member was a little cranky. Didn't take advantage of... more

My husband and I traveled with another couple to Binghamton to see a baseball game and then visit Cooperstown for 4th of July weekend. We stayed 2 nights at the Grand Royale. The interior is very cool - you can still easily tell that it has been reformed into a hotel - which does add some charm. The location of... more

We stayed here as a stop over between Manhattan and Upper New York recently. I read the review comparing this hotel to those in the England and I can only say based upon my relatively good experience with hotels in the UK, this compares to the shabbier stays I've had. Given the photo for the hotel, I thought this might... more

It's like staying at a small hotel in London, at 1/5 the price. The atmosphere is opulent from the gilded age. It is quality in a city which I sincerely believe is the best kept secret in New York State. The management and staff are sincere, down-to-earth, and just plain fine, It is my opinion that you can't go wrong..... more
