Good? Location. Staff. (friendly) Bad? Roof deck: Unkept, cushionless seating, falling apart. Pool: Nice, but unheated. Unkept deck, filthy. Hot tub roped off, broken. Splintered decking surrounds, cushionless chaise lounges littered with debris, leaves, etc. "community grill" out of propane at around 5PM... staff reluctant to take time out of their "busy" schedule to replace. UNlocked door to boardwalk leading... More

We have been coming to The Madison for five years and it is always a special experience, with superb service by Luke, fine appointmemts (linens, decor, etc), and everthing we want from the Pines atmosphere. Luke is especially attentive to our needs and keeps the place spotless, the music going and surprises us with special treats throughout our stay. With... More

The Pines is the Pines: you like it or loath it. And the Madison is a clean, comfortable place to stay. I can't say I'm a fan of the hotel's rather naff decor, but what was outstanding was the two helpful guys who look after the place - Phil and Luke. Nothing was too much trouble and they have a... We booked a last minute overnight stay. Warm greeting from Luke on arrival and easy check in. Though we were just there for one night, Luke took care of us (changing the beds from King to two twins, adjusting the temperature, and just being really pleasant). The room was very comfortable, and the amenities like a kitchen, beach chairs, umbrellas,... More

Having spent summers in the Pines via a share or as a guest, we can say that staying at the Madison offers an excellent alternative without sacrificing what makes the Pines both a unique community and a desirable destination. There are countless reasons to visit the Pines, such as the beauty of the beach, the serene sunsets over the bay,... More

We liked the Madison from the start! Located between the harbor and the beach it's an ideal place to stay. Options are very limited - there is only one other hotel (the Ciel) - but there is no comparison. The Madison is like "staying at a friends house" in the middle of all the other houses in the Pines. The... More

We've been back to The Madison at The Pines 3 times in a row - it's a unique place to stay in The Pines, somewhere between a boutique hotel and a very nice home. The warm welcome from the Manager Luke is a great start; there's a nice atmosphere for women and the proximity to the beach is fantastic. We... More

Without a doubt, the best place to stay in the Pines. Not only is the location perfect, but the staff is AMAZING. From the moment I made my reservation to my final good bye, Luke, Philip and Ronnie were focused on making my stay the best. They are around when you need them and ready to lend a helping hand.... Agree with previous reviewer Frank H. Great to go with your friends and rent several rooms. Nice to meet other guests in very relaxed atmosphere. So nice they provide you with beach umbrellas, beach chairs etc. Will go back soon!

I wanted to get out of the city for my Birthday and I thought about Fire Island for a few days. When my partner and I saw the photos of The Madison in the Pines, we were immediately taken by how beautiful it looked. We booked a room with Luke and arrived the next day. We found ourselves in an... More
