Stayed here for 3 nights in September 2009. Accomodation comprises 20 individual thatched chalets overlooking a lovely desert plain plus main reception building where all meals are taken. Chalets are fairly spacious. Note that apart from low voltage lighting there is no other power to the chalets so anything that needs powering up has to be left in the main... more

There are 20 thatched chalets which are spacious and clean, although the rooms are very dark at night as the two lamps in the room are not powerful enough to provide adequate light.. Any electrical item that needs charging has to be done at the main reception area as there are no elecrical sockets in the room. The restraunt has... more

We took the straw bale chalets which were very warm and cosy, despite the outside temperatures overnight. Well appointed sums the place up, although charging of electrical items has to be done at the main lodge. Food is good and there is a set menu although special requirements will be accommodated. The horseriding was good - they have a mixture... more

This was by far our least favorite stay in Namibia. Our booking was for two nights and we should have left after one. Although the location to Sossusvlei is good, that is really all the lodge has to go on. Room: Cold. Yes, it was winter, but the general feel of the room was impersonal as well. The lights barely... more

The Desert Homestead was the first place my husband and I stayed on our first trip to Namibia. We were there June 3 – June 6. In a nutshell, the location is picture perfect, the accommodation and food were excellent, the staff helpful, and the horseback sundowner a treat. We would certainly stay here again. For more specifics good and... more

Two friends and I stayed at the Desert Homestead for 2 nights while on a short trip through Namibia. We were so very happy that we stayed at the Desert Homestead- it was absolutely everything we needed and much more. Definitely a great find. First, the location is beautiful, especially around sunset and sunrise. Yes, it's a bit more of... more

The Desert Homestead was very welcoming, and the horses seem to be well looked after. The sundowner trail was good, though the lady who led it was not so good at looking after the beginners after the sundowners leaving us behind in the darkness. No helmets were given to riders, which was a surprise as the ground was rocky in... more

In August 08 I had the pleasure of staying at the Desert Homestead. It is a truly beautiful place. The staff were so really sweet and welcoming. After checking out their website, I thought that perhaps it looked a little average, but in reality it was just gorgeous. The rooms were luxurious, and homely (in an elegant stylish way) without... more

The desert homestead is a lodge, which is set near the Namib-Naukluft Park. The greatest thing about staying in this lodge is the fantastic horse back sundowners. It is around an hours drive from the Namib-Naukluft Park. See my blog for more details http://lacailleguidetotravel.blogspot.com/2008/03/namibia.html more
