I won't go over-board but this place is an oasis in a sea of nothing
....well, not nothing, because in Tsumkwe you are surrounded by bush, an endless, inspirational sky and the fact that you are in the Western Kalahari Basin and could, in any minute, come across an elephant.
Rooms at the lodge are very comfortable. The bar area is cosy at night as guests of the lodge and the adjacent camp site swop stories of near sightings - or misses - of wild game and punctured tires on the 4x4.
Most of the rooms do not have sources of electricity - so charge your cellphone in the restaurant area over breakfast.
The swimming pool is miniscule: call it an enlarged bath.
And the food is lovingly put together - but a bit too geared for foreigners worried about eating foreign food when, for God's sake, we've travelled hundreds and hundreds of miles to a place totally different to home. You don't travel to the border of Namibia and Botswana to eat, well...
