We have been to Kenya, S Africa and Namibia several times, but the Tafica camps are the best of them all. We have been twice, so far. John and Carol Coppinger have a stable team with massive experience, and Brian and Alex are great guides to be with. The setup is non-pretentious. Comfort and food are excellent. The Tafica main camp... more

The journey to Kutandala is , in itself , an adventure . Access is via Lusaka from where a small plane takes you to Mfuwe in the Luangwa Valley , a tiny quintessentially African airport where the majority of your fellow safari enthusiasts will be met & ferried to their various camps in the south Luangwa national Park .But for... more

Tafika is a truly excellent safari camp in a stunning and remote location in South Luangwa National Park (NP). Prior to our visit we were a little apprehensive following a recent negative review on Trip Advisor. Our experience could not, however, have been more different. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel very welcome by the owners... more

We have visited Southern Africa annually over the last 20 years and have visited Tafika and its associated camps on several occasions. This year we put all our eggs in the one basket and spent our African vacation in the camps of Remote Africa Safaris (Tafika, Mwaleshi. Chikko and Croc). We did this because of our previous experiences and the... more

Fabulous camp located in extensive shaded grounds on the banks of the Luanga river. The chalets were huge (although we believe we were allocated the honeymoon suite, all the chalets looked of similar size from the outside), and open at head height at both ends which allowed for a through breeze - very helpful in the October heat. The shower... more

Unfortunately, our visit to Tafika was extremely disappointing. The guides and main staff are stressed and tired due to having no time off. In addition, the guides were bored. and unenthusiastic which was such a pity. Unlike the other camps we stayed at they had a set routine and if you wanted to do something different that was too bad.... more

Management response from
Tafika_Owner, Owner/Manager

We are seriously committed to giving our guests the best possible safari experience and are therefore most distressed that these guests clearly did not enjoy their stay with us. We can only apologise most sincerely that Tafika did not live up to their expectations. Since we care very much about our guests' enjoyment here it is impossible not to take...

Our experience at Tafika Camp was very special for my family in many ways. The remoteness, which seems well protected by the somewhat long and rough road in, was not a problem for us as we were in very comfy seats and was a safari adventure itself. Though we anticipated the area would not be crowded this early in the... more

This was my second visit to Tafika - a couple of years ago now, but having read one review below I just wanted to say that one of the things I liked most about the place was the family feel - we were made so welcome. John and Carol's two daughters were there the first time we stayed and it... more

19 Oct 2008 | Trip type: Friends getaway

Three friends and I spent 10 nights at Remote Africa camps: 2 at Chikoko, Crocodile and Tafika and four at Mwaleshi. If I was lucky enough to do it again, I would probably shorten the stay at Mwaleshi and extend it at one of the others. Our accommodations were wonderful. We had a chalet at each camp with hot showers... more

The beauty of the Luangwa valleys, the exciting game viewing and the fabulous microlight flights almost goes without saying, but for us it was the Coppinger organisation which really made the trip utterly memorable for many years to come. Despite the huge throughput of guests in all the Remote Africa camps during the season, the staff showed nothing but courtesy,... more
