I stayed at Sausage Tree Camp for five days in May - just after the wet season - my first time in Africa. It's located on the Lower Zambezi and the area is teeming with wildlife. We saw: elephants (daily - often wandering through camp) hippos, crocs, impala, waterbuck, African wild dogs, cape buffalo, zebra, baboons, lions, porcupine, owls, eagles.... more

We stayed for four nights of our honeymoon and loved every minute. It's a sublime location, and being reasonably remote, you feel like the entire park is yours. We saw abundant amounts of game and took walking safaris, game drives and a canoe trip as all part of the price. The quality of rooms, food and service was all outstanding,... more

In one word, Sausage Tree and the team are...FAULTLESS. Everything is done so well. The food, the huts (more like palaces), the guiding, the team looking after you, the game. All brilliant. The team lead by Alan & Nici make you feel so welcome, relaxed and treat you like friends not guests. The guides are brilliant and the river is... more

I stayed at STC for 6 months in April 2008 on honeymoon. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. It is really easy to get to, we landed at Lusaka, took a 45 minute light aircraft trip to the airstrip in the Lower Zambesi and were met there by a STC staff member and then the enjoyment started. Bags are... more

I visited Sausage Tree in November with a friend and had a fantastic 4 days there. The camp is beautifully situated on the banks of the Lower Zambezi River with magical sunsets and beautiful views day and night of elephants/hippos and numerous birds. Our guide Patrick was incredible knowledgeable about the animals/birds/plants/geology of the area and we had a great... more

We spent 4 nights at Sausage Tree. It is in a beautiful spot overlooking the broad Zambezi and a number of Islands. Elephants hippos and buffaloes were often in view from the terrace (as well as wandering through the camp at night). The sunsets and the late afternoon and dusk light were magificent, perfect for taking the DNA (do nothing... more

Sausage Tree camp sits on the banks of the Zambezi opposite Zimbabwe - the setting is stunning and you can enjoy all aspects of that setting during your stay whether on land or water. Highlights of our stay were lunch at a table on a sand bank in the middle of the Zambezi under about a foot of water surrounded... more

Sausage tree was our 3rd camp in Zambia and was another top class camp following on from two great Robin Pope camps. This was a nice change of scenery and had more of a variety of things to do here. The flight into the tiny landing strip is amazing followed by a bumpy but animal filled drive to the camp.... more

A disaster of a camp! The ads for Sausage Tree all tout its luxury; the people who run this camp constantly tell you that it is the best thing since sliced bread. The reality (as I found out over 4 nights spent there in June) is far different. The food was absolutely terrible, despite all the hype about the chef,... more

Sausage Tree Camp is on the Lower Zambesi in Zambia, and it is fantastic. It is only open in the dry season, and even then the easiest access is from the Zambesi. It is in the Lower Zambesi National Park, and its eight guest tents overlook the beautiful river. Animals wander through the camp, and guests are always escorted at... more
